OGS has already told the world what type of players he is looking for OP.
"But who's going to go to Utd? and why wold they chose them over a club like Spurs or Wolves or anyone else for that matter."
United are still a massive draw, make no mistake about that.
Wages are obviously a big attraction, but don't doubt the prestige that United has.
It's been a bad season but we're still a massive club and the way that football works these days - with money being so critical - that isn't going to change.
You could comfortably debate that Man Utd are more likely to win the league before Tottenham do.
Clear the decks.
Out:
De Gea (If he won't sign a new deal/is shot of confidence still in pre-season/a good offer comes in)
Pogba (If a good offer comes in)
CBJ
Rojo
Jones
Darmian
Matic
Fred (If you can recoup within 20m of his fee)
Sanchez (For free if required)
Wilson
Herrera
Mata
Valencia
Young (By any means, he's symbolic of the problem)
Then go an target young, hungry and mostly PL tested players like
Rice
Maguire
Alderweireld
Zaha
Wan-Bissaka
Gueye
Chilwell
Then sprinkle in some quality foreign talent
Such a huge job now it needs two windows but if they are really going to show they mean business bringing in 9-10 players in would kick start them.
I’m pretty certain majority of players would still choose united over spurs simply because of the money, the prestige etc etc. If however 2-3 yrs down the line we are still in the same position then things would change. As for United or wolves, well that’s not even debatable
We have huge amounts of money. More than anyone in the English league. It’s how we spend it that has been the problem. Young, hungry players is what seems to be the target now and I hope that is the way we go with the odd experience thrown in. There is so much to get rid of however
Rojo, Darmian, Young, Jones, Matic, Sanchez, Lingard and Mata are what I’d get rid
Wages at Spurs 100k if you're lucky, wages at United 100k if you're unlucky
United are still a more attractive club than most for that reason
Did you seriously just ask why they would choose us over wolves?
Similar position to when you'd signed the likes of Bale, Modric and Eriksen then
I know this is a sensible article, but I think most fans know that United are one of, if not the, biggest clubs in the world. Players have grown up wanting to play for Real, Barca or United. It's just the way it is.
Clubs like Spurs have closed the gap. I mean, imagine 10 years ago asking the same question and you would have been laughed it. Now, it's genuinely alot closer and one could argue that Spurs are a more attractive proposition for some players.
It will be a real acid test if Alderweireld goes to United.
We'll probably try to sell abroad but as UCL finalist and in the UCL next year, if he goes to Utd he's clearly going for one reason - which i suppose at his stage of career is understandable.

Players don’t choose us just for the money you know. Yes it’s a big factor but still playing at the biggest club stadium in the country, playing for the biggest club in the country and one of the biggest in the world. The club that gets by far and away the most exposure. Some players don’t want it, but others crave fit. Just because we are a sheite football club at the moment doesn’t mean all of a sudden we are not an attractive proposition for a footballer
I would say spurs are now a more attractive club than united for the players we would potentially compete for ie a Wan Bissaka or Tielemans.
Salary wise we would be offering 100k plus. The likes of Lamela and Sissoko are on 100k so we aren't paupers.
In terms of the football club, we are currently a much better team and have a much better manager who will develop them. Facilities wise we have a better stadium and training ground.
Don't really get this 'prestige' thing. Players don't care United used to be a great team. City were in league 1 a few years ago but are now a far more attractive prospect than United.
Players like Sanchez/Bale etc of course United can get, but don't think they will want to continue that policy.

I get this but to some extent things have moved on.....the emergence of City was never expected. Liverpool becoming a force, even Spurs.
If the likes of DDG and Pogba go, what is this saying about the club? Who are you left with as a draw, even the manager is a rookie and the jury is put on whether he has what it takes.
The argument you made could also be said of Real but they have ZZ, they can still attract the very best, are recent 3x winners of the UCL - this is all fresh in memories. the days of SAF are fading memories and will not even be in the minds of some young footballers.
What was the last world class player that United managed to buy? Pogba? What would worry me is that it is the money that is making the difference in a players mind and is that a sound basis. And when they get there, who will be left if the 6-10 players people are listing are moved on. You would not be walking into a dressing room with the likes of Ramos Modric Kroos etc telling you you had better perform, you'd look around and think, woh, where are the leaders, the characters, the experienced senior pros who have been there and won it all? Ashley Young?!?

If you don't believe that Man Utd have an attraction to players because of the size and popularity of the club across the world then you're naive imo.
I think Spurs are a much more attractive option than united these days. Big rumours are that Sessegnon much prefers us over united. We have a nicer stadium now, better training facilities, CL footy pretty much every season and currently in a CL final. United are a club in constant transition with players constantly in conflict. The money is the only thing that would entice a player to them and if that’s the case, I wouldn’t want that player anyway.
Irrespective of whether we can attract that top players or not, what we should be doing is promoting 5 or so players from the quality youth players we currently have, 3 or 4 semi-established young hungry players with the chunk of their career ahead of them and a couple of experienced leaders. We need to make 5 or 6 signings, getting rid of about 8 and bring through the kids.
to be honest, we don't want players that aren't prepared to be in the CL for one season. We want players that buy into the long term aims of the club and are looking to cement themselves in the club's history.
"Don't really get this 'prestige' thing. Players don't care United used to be a great team"
The same reason players chose to go Milan clubs still, or evenadrid and Barca before they were great again.

You would think that. Secondly where have these Sessegnon rumours come from. I for one wouldn’t want the lad. Let’s be fair majority of footballers would still choose us over spurs whether you like it or not
I would day it depends on the players. United are telling the world what they want in a player. Of course agents will try to get their players the best deal.
There is also a certain prestige that comes with playing for United. We have yoyoed in and put of the top four the past few years, Tottenham finished below us last season so these things can change quickly.
Tottenham are also in a precious moment. They may lose two top players and need to replace them well. The question is if they have any money. They couldn't afford Grealish last season. They need to sell to buy.
Trouble is, there's a profile of player who would go to a club like United for money over a club like Spurs where perhaps the long-term project is more attractive. And United's entire problem is that they have a squad full of that sort of player.
A huge root and branch renovation of the squad is required, far more than can reasonably be achieved in one window, and results in the short term are very likely to suffer during the transition. As and when that happens, Solskjaer will come under serious pressure, if he's not already given their form, and I wouldn't be surprised if he were gone by Christmas. I actually made that prediction to a United colleague when Solskjaer was first appointed as interim boss - I said he'd have a great first couple of months, get the job permanently and be gone by the end of the year.
The root of the problem is the players and their collective mindset, their collective lack of unity. That's a serious problem that won't be solved by throwing more and more money at players who are only interested in the thing that's causing the problem in the first place.
Pogba has to be first out the door, surely.
Football fans and people in general have become so short term.
United are going through a rough patch but don't kid yourself that we're not a decent managerial appointment away from competing from the league again.
Bale, Modric, Thuram and Kaka I reckon.
