yeah the number of goals a player scores is irrelevant imo. what's the point in scoring when everyone knows that the winner is the team who is offside less

Thinking outside of the box. Peri up top as another option. He has played there for Croatia before.

I would start Peri on the left against Brentford ahead of Son. Son can have 20mins off the bench.

Moderate pain now with a truck load of cash.

or...

Intense pain and no money next summer.

That's the reality. We accept this deal now we get money and he's out of sight and not scoring goals for a rival every week. Let him go for free and we get nothing and the indignity of him scoring for a rival against us.

Believe it or not, this is the best case scenario given the circumstances. It's just hard to see it now. Him signing a new deal was just pie in the sky to be honest.

Yeah, ultimately this.

I'm surprised how bummed I am, still, considering I've been pretty convinced all summer that he was going to leave.

idk I think this agenda you have that's making you say things like "how many goals he scores is irrelevant" and "I am as good as him" is sillier

We're at Le Bron Decision Stage now. The outcome is going to be epic either way.

"was pointing out that if you look more at how many more goals he could get if he didn't miss chances for fun, then that would be more impressive.'

if my auntie etc etc

I honestly think some people prefer a striker who scores 5 goals a season from 10 chances than one who scores 15 goals from 50 chances. As if that it's not scoring goals that matters, but rather that whoever misses less loses. Or like people think a player has no responsibility for how many chances they get on the end of and it's entirely about service and not movement.

If richarlison starts for us next season he will score at least 15 goals. this will make him a big positive impact on the team. If you're a big positive impact on a team of our level, you're a good player.

The fact that he will miss a lot of chances is irrelevant to this - nobody is claiming he's perfect. you can always score more, I can just as easily say that Kane would score more if he was faster because it would enhance his movement. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good

if he stays and signs a new deal, does Levy become a hero for tying him down to a new contract, or a villain for attempting to sell him 3 days before a new season kicks off?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or he says he will stay and wait

if you think then any other striker could come in and get as many chances as richarlison then sure that's valid. Obviously at that point you just want whoever is best at finishing those chances.

but I don't think that's the case - so I don't think it's entirely fair to say that all those chances missed are value lossed when other strikers wouldn't get those chances in the first place.

Obviously it would be better if he converted those at a higher rate and I do think at some point we should be looking up upgrade him

but he's good and having him up front is not a disaster

I don’t think if you add up all the goals our forwards left would score in a season it would still be less than Kane would get himself

A player that scores 5 from 10 chances is clinical.

A player that scores 15 in 50 isn't clinical but gets in the right positions to get those chances.

Of the two, I'd go for the first one because the number of chances can increase depending on the team you play for but if you're not clinical, you never will be. There's far greater potential in the first than there is the second. How others can't see that is beyond me.
