Does he want to be a Roy Keane or a Scott Parker? These are levels I am talking.

if you had to get rid of one of Winks and Sissoko who would you ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends who the replacement is but Sissoko only because of his age. If I had to chose who would I pick if only one of them were an option then I would go with Sissoko, just.

By option I mean in the starting 11.

Why would he be either? Neither are traditional deep lying mids in the modern game. He should wan/aspire to be a Veratti type surely?

I just think judging a deep lying mid on goals would be like judging a keeper on chances created or a striker on defensive clearances

MK a couple of questions. Did you ever see Dele at MK Dons? Did he play as DM there?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and No

He played in a 3 man midfield as a B2B scoring incredible long distance goals then towards the end got pushed up to what he played now or on occasion as a striker.

He’s was always a central midfielder from young though

Again, if he wants to take his game to another level and be noticed scoring and assisting will only help

I think because of age and being non-homegrown too.

Because of the significantly less possession we are playing with now, Sissoko does seem to be more in his element so to speak, but even so he is still playing on a par with Winks.

Whereas i think Winks could improve around better players, where Sissoko would be at his same level.

He’s my fav of the journos

Jack Pitt Brooke is a good journo. Still don't buy into this tier business(because the bloke who invented it is a beg) but I trust JPB and Matt Law.

The view from the lane did a great bit about how the 2-2 battle of the bridge affected us for so long and probably cost us the 16/17 title

posted on 23/7/20

Were we ever in that race? or did the media hype it to be that way just for the sake of it?

posted on 23/7/20

Of course we were, especially going into the FA Cup semifinal. I maintain had with won the semi final I think we would have won the league - Chelsea were in a real slump and that result gave them the boost they so badly needed

We'll agree to disagree. Leicester were unstoppable imo.

Wrong season, that was 15/16.

16/17 we were 4 points behind Chelsea after 32 played going to play them in the semis next. They had relatively tough fixtures against to follow.

yeah that season we were ridiculously good and missed a big opportunity to win it.

No Europe for Chelsea helped them.

Foyth was on the bench at the weekend

Going back to Winks, I think back to when Pochettino compared him to Xavi and Iniesta. Obviously he's not as good as either of those two, so it was a bit of a bad comparison to start with - but you can see what he means. In a system like Barca's back then, with a midfielder like Busquets behind him, I could definitely see Winks being the sort of progressive #8 who would chip in with a lot more telling contributions - not necessarily the assist or the finish, but definitely the assist-to-the-assist. I think he'd do well in a high-possession system where he could move through the lines a lot more.

I agree though, in the systems he's played in the past few years, he comes across as a bit of a hybrid 6/8 where he doesn't really offer quite enough in either role. I think that's the frustrating thing about him, to be honest. His physical profile and skillset definitely mark him out as a #8, but he needs a proper 6 next to him for that to work, and as we all know Spurs haven't had a proper 6 for years.
