Weird, isn't it. That Mourinho could end up *technically* a more successful Spurs manager than Pochettino.
I'd still be shocked and (frankly) appalled if Spurs beat City in the Carabao final though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You'd be appalled if we won our first trophy in 13 years? That's a weird comment. It's one thing to want us to lose a league game so Jose gets sacked but surely you'd be happy and celebrate if we were to win a trophy?
The reference is to the difference in the standard of players in both teams, and id have to agree, id be shocked if we beat City too
It's the football purist in me. I would be pleased at Spurs winning a trophy, sure, but it's the overall context that would still sit wrong in my head - the fact that Spurs had such an easy run to the final, the fact that I can only assume any win over City will be horribly defensive and against the run of play, and (most importantly) the fact that Mourinho-lovers (Levy included) would use the cup win as a reason to argue Mourinho should be kept on board for longer when I genuinely think axing him now is the best course of action for the club's long-term health

Fair enough, I want Jose gone as well. However I want to see Spurs win a trophy more. I also think that if we don't win a trophy under Mourinho then all the negative football, bad mood among fans and general malaise will have been for nothing.
I think if he only wins the League Cup then he will be gone anyway some time this season or early next season. If he some how wins the Europa League too he can stay!
football as a whole these days just has me fed up and less bothered.
will always love the football club.
i have see us win a league cup in more impressive fashion than this. Like said above by Mandy, the win would be tarnished somewhat for those reasons but i will be overjoyed in that moment of winning it.
if we can get a FA Cup or Europa league however i will probably cry, even though i despise having Jose as manager, i wasnt hating from the beginning knowing that despite everything we will have more chance than ever to win something ive never seen before.

Don't give a toss how we win it and history won't care either.
It will be amazing to have some silverware after such a long barren time
It's not about Jose or Poch, it is about the club winning a trophy
It's an old argument at this point though, isn't it. Some people find it more important that the team wins trophies. I personally find it most important to follow a team I actually enjoy watching.
Each to their own <shrug>
I don’t mind having Lucas around tbh. At least he’s good for squad rotation for cup games and leagues games V lower quality
Lamela for all his hard graft just doesn’t do enough. Something like 16 league goals in 8 years is a awful return.
His injury record is a shambles too

As for Lucas his attitude has been exemplary (correct me if I'm wrong!) There is something to be said for having a player with this attitude in the squad.
He's also decent when he plays, certainly not poor as a lot of people tend to say on here. He's not amazing but as a squad option we won't get much better in my opinion. He is definitely good to enough to play Europa, early rounds of cups and PL games against 'lesser' sides.
Lucas definitely deserves to hang on to a squad place more than Lamela and it's not even close. About as many goals in a little over half the games Lamela has played. 10 league goals in his first full season when Lamela hasn't managed over half that.
It's been downhill for Moura since then but still you're talking about a player whose career highlight is a hat-trick in a semi against Ajax to take us to our first CL final, compared to the other whose highlight is a rabona from 7 years ago in a group game against minnows.
Thing is, could we even sell Lamela if we wanted to at this point? Lucas would at least command a decent fee.

Shopping list for the summer:
A top class RB
A top class CB
A top class CM
Plus some upgrades on squad players where possible.
An English RB
Milenkovic
Sabitzer
Ings
Better number 2 goal keeper

the kwp nonsense annoys me every time i think about it.
should have been loaned out early and would have been our number 1 RB for a few years by now.
Hojbjerg in return makes it more palatable, he wouldnt have been worth much more than £20mil though in the summer and still would have been worth every penny of that.

Gherkin looks another tasty option at left back
Course we've got Sessegnon too. Maybe time for Davies to go.
Left back we have good options.
Nothing on the right

Would be a dream.
Sess could back up anywhere down the left really and would get his fair share of game time to impress with the modern game and rotation of full/wing backs. Really hope both he and Reguilón will be at the club next season.
Is Aarons worthy of going for? Not seen any of Norwich.

He's often criticized for being a bit small and not great at defending. Though I think he'd be a good option if we're keeping Doherty
