it is true though. the quality in most of the test sides there is nothing in it. the toss really gives the advantage for the win.

Root won a few home series when he started as captain because he won so many tosses in a row i think, used up all his luck when it less mattered it seems.

Root needs to convert here, and Bairstow and Buttler to also turn up.

Did you say Mark Wood's article on him on the BBC? It's more to do with the ODI setup but there was a part where he said when they had a bad game the skipper would talk to them about it then ask Bayliss if he wanted to add anything, and he'd always say no.

Also sounds like he was good mates with a lot of the players so it's no wonder they don't get dropped.

I did yeah. When England play badly, Bayliss is so grumpy he just wants to go home. Players asking when training was next on, he says "I dunno."

It just shows the fine margins in top level sport though. Aussies' mental levels have dipped just a bit cos it's a dead rubber.

all bad shots tbh. the latest was a difficult catch but you see them taken over 50% of the time these days

Worst thing is they're all on about it as though it's some endearing little eccentricity. It's facking crap coaching, is what it is

You wonder how much Eoin Morgan or the other coaches picked up the slack

Root needs to make them pay for these drops in the way Smith would. Just looks a little frenetic all of a sudden.
