There is no way the season will be 'cancelled'.
The lawsuits from every vested interested would be incredible, along with every club looking for promotion, CL spots, trophies, or to avoid relegation from their performance this season.
Instead, the real possibility of months of football behind closed doors is very real.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, they'll bend over every which way to avoid having to call the season void.
Even if it means restarting the league in June and finishing in August, and clubs having to make do if they lose players whose contracts are up at end of June.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yep the financial ramifications would be massive.
Indefinitely suspended and carry on when its deemed safe to do so

If in the unlikely event the season was not concluded fully, then it should be judged on current positions at the time. This is by far the fairest and least contentious way of resolving it.👍

Cannot do that Genius, that would be totally unfair to teams in the relegation battle.
The only logical thing that can be done is the season is annulled. It will be tough on those leading their leagues, but if you have no absolute definitive winners, then it is the only logical stance.
You wouldn`t stop any other sporting event not fully completed, and then declare a winner. You would just call it void.

Shortening the 2020-21 season could give us some slack that would enable a delayed end to this one. Possibilities:
- Cancel the league cup
- Make CL / EL go back to an old-skool knock-out format
- Fewer or no international friendlies

Well that's bollox.
They should just look at recent form and extrapolate the remaining fixtures based on that. Say last 5 games. It would mean United win all of our games and become European and FA Cup champions. Where as Liverpool lose most games 2 or 3-0. I may do an article later to prove the theory

Season is finished. It will just be cancelled. No titles, no relegations, it is what it is.
May have to have play offs for European Places.

Government can be challenged in the court too. Besides they arent going to make calls on ending one season and starting another ffs.
They can make judgements on banning games for s period of time but whether to write off one season or not is in the hands of the football organisations.
I genuinely think UEFA would continue this season in September than start a new one.

My guess right now is Euros gets pushed back a year and we finish this season in the summer.
Pre season becomes late summer and early Aitumn and we shorten the 2020/2021 schedule by shelving the Carabao Cup for a year, scrap all replays from the FA Cup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Be nice if that survived through to the season after tbh
All clubs will have to agree to the solution either way surely otherwise legal action will be taken. Logically it makes no sense to cancel it being what 2 months left of the season and no certainty of next season even getting to start anyway. best case scenario from here is hoping it all passes over and eases up asap so teams can crawl over the line in the summer, where it might even be at its peak but should be running its course and being handled better by then with a lot of the country having some kind of immunity.. Giving them time to decide how to go about even starting next season and if they need to split the season in half or something to cram it in and resume to normality the following year.
