The only positive thing for us Spurs fans is that by the time we get back to playing matches, we should have Kane, Son & Sissoko back fit, plus it will give N’Dombele a nice long rest to get his strength back🤣

I see all the Spurs fans want the season cancelled. Lol. I can see why. They are crap.

But frankly it is a ludicrous argument. You cant start a new season until the previous one is completed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That`s why they will declare it null and void, and wipe it from the record books, as if it never happened.

The amount of lawsuits that would happen if this season was just abandoned is too large to imagine.

This season will definitely finish, even if it takes two years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You really think lawsuits will be lodged in the face of thousands of deaths, what kind of people would even consider doing that. It is what it is, an act of god and any lawsuit would be thrown out before it even started.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because starting one season and ending another is fack all to do with that. It is a decision by the football authorities to disregard a season and begin another one.

There is simply no way, short of an apocalypse, that is going to happen.

It completely undermines the entire integrity of its competitions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A sensible opinion on this!!

It’s not like playing FIFA when you rage quit and start again from scratch.

I do like the notion that damages claims worth literally 9 figures would be thrown out of Court because people died of COVID-19.

It's a quaint idea.

What you going to do with players who are out of contract in July and when does the transfer window open?

Also playing a 19 game season will also undermine the league as it has to be home and away for fairness.

Also I’m pretty sure FIFA banned league games being allowed to be played abroad.

If this season doesn’t start up within a couple months then i think they’ll either void the season or finish as is.

Either way they’ll be very unhappy clubs around

I think they will use the three week delay to test every player and essentially quarantine their squads before they play the final two months of the season in the summer probably behind closed doors and to empty stadiums.

Might be one of the main entertainments used to pacify a population on lockdown during peak virus period.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems fairly obvious to me but I suspect the players will kick off and stop that happening.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t see how you restart in three weeks when at such a point you still have staff across the clubs, officials, press members, etc. still full of the virus, as well as players at every club developing, dealing with and recovering from symptoms.

You can’t take elite professional sportspeople out of peak training for a month or six weeks and then ask them to play professional fixtures without rebuilding fitness and conditioning first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You don't have anyone full of the virus three weeks from now if you quarantine them all
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Until they leave quarantine and are again surrounded by people still carrying the virus.

Unless you are talking about a Chinese-style complete lockdown strategy for the entire country for the next six-plus months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm talking about a lockdown strategy for those that are needed to complete games

Deffo think my idea is best

Season 19/20

Start pre season in say, July and be ready to start again In September. Finish in December, have Euros in January.

Season 20/21

Start season in March, finish in December

Season 21/22

Start season in February, finish in November, World Cup in December.

^^^

Now, that may be a crazy idea and might take years to inch back towards a winter league. But one thing seems certain. If we finish this season, there’s no way unless there’s a health miracle that 20/21 starts in August.

And if we bin off this season the legal challenges from all the sides who miss out will delay any new league starting for ages.

---------------

Up to the players. They either sign a 1 month/2 month deal or they don't. Clubs can sign them so players get paid but they cannot play... or they don't sign them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about the ones that have signed new contract with other clubs already?

Why not a bit of a cup comp instead of 19 games. 20 teams, including those promoted, have a massive game of Wembley over 3 months. Then loads of time for the national team to prep for rearranged Euro 2020.

No they will just continue it into next year.

You do not start one season after not finishing the previous one. Contracts, sponsors and rights deals do not work that way.

And that 19 game thing was my idea. i am sure they can make a truncated Oct-May season work.

the idea of cancelling this season just baffles me. How anyone can think that is credible is hilarious.

Sorry teams that have played great for 10 momths, your promised prizes are null and void.

Dream on Spurs fans
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a weird thing to say dream on spurs fans

The hilarious thing is thinking you can play a 19 game season next season and think clubs would be happy with that.

They go to those clubs but cannot play for the remaining games. They still get paid, they just cannot play. It is what it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Plus don’t discount the moral factor - these players will be paid full wages for the next few months so I’m sure that in a post-Coronavirus world where loads of people will die, the players will be more than happy to accommodate needs from the clubs without going loco over later payments

I love how one user is so desperate to be proved right they are suggesting a few precontract agreements involving a tiny number of players will be prioritised over multibillion dollar rights deals and sponsorships
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing to be proved right as it’s a opinion on what the struggles I think playing through the summer will have.

So multibillion dollar rights deals and sponsorships should be prioritised over people`s lives then?
