One of the major issues the UK has had up to this point is the access to tests and PPE. With the exception of Italy and Spain who seem to have been totally caught on the hop by this, most of the other European countries have been testing way above the levels of the UK. A lot of this will be down to timing of this virus so soon after brexit, with the uk now officially having left the EU and yet not having had time to set up other deals, they are at the back of the back when it comes to procuring these from other countries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not 100% sure on this but it seems Germany is way above other European countries in testing mainly because of their pharmaceutical companies. The UK is about average.
----------------------------------------------------------------------Average by what perimeters tho? If you have a population of 60 million and are testing 5k a day it’s not the same at a country of 5 million doing the same. There are 27 countries in the EU, according to the table posted earlier at a quick glance I think around 20 of those have a lower deaths per million count than the UK. Ireland for example has exactly half that rate, and we have been conducting drive in testing for almost two weeks, something the UK has yet to implement because they don’t have the tests available (obviously Ireland is a much smaller population).

Infectious diseases are usually more of a problem in urban areas. Most urban areas in America do not subscribe to Trump dogma and are run by politicians who started cracking down as soon as the situation became serious.
.......
The cases in rural areas will get just as bad in time because that is where a higher percentage of the stupid people in the USA live.
I live in a rural area and went out to the store for the first time in a week on my own. The rest of my family remained at home. The amount of families or groups that were out together was unbelievable. Trump voters mostly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When all you're exposed to (pun intended) is Trump and Fox saying it's a dem hoax, a media fake news, he's doing a perfect job, we're open for Easter, it's 100% under control, etc. people will not adhere to any sort of physical distancing or adequate preventative measures.
The problem has, is, and will spread to all these rural towns.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. And they will all pivot in an instant and blame those pesky "coastal elites" for bringing pestilence to poor Johnny Appleseed.
Win, win, for Trump.

Ireland are over 2 weeks behind the UK if you count it from the 10 death recorded. This is apparently the parameter used in all cases ie UK compared to Italy

One of them was selling "silver water" or something like that on tv. Asked if it cured the disease, said that there was no evidence that it didn't cure the disease either
Sometimes I think "fine, let them go", but sadly too many people will needlessly die which is sad.

I took the calculated risk of flying everyone home and staying back to run our Africa office.
You wouldn't even believe what some of the religious leaders down here are saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can believe, and it worries me for people like your safety.
Hope you're okay and stay safe. It will get seriously bad in some African countries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Things are going just as I had expected so far. The government down here pretty much shut everything down as soon as the cases started popping up.
The situation will probably be different in a couple of weeks though.

Win, win, for Trump.
.....
There isn’t a scenario where Trump will come out of this winning. He has already done the damage. It is now damage limitation for him and his administration and they are not equipped to deal with it.
This will always be a problem to any leader who surrounds him / herself with yes men.

Will there still be en election in the US in November if the virus is still killing multiple people in say July/August.
If not has there been any mention of the contingency plans that are in place?

One issue I have here in the US is everything is still open except places that sell alcohol (except stores.)Yet some of the beaches are closed. Makes no sense that I can go buy a suit, sofa or lawn mower but not tan on the beach! My buddy called me Friday from the mall and was buying shirts as they were giving $hit away. I said good buy something we can bury you in.
