Win, win, for Trump.

.....

There isn’t a scenario where Trump will come out of this winning. He has already done the damage. It is now damage limitation for him and his administration and they are not equipped to deal with it.

This will always be a problem to any leader who surrounds him / herself with yes men.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Will there still be en election in the US in November if the virus is still killing multiple people in say July/August.

If not has there been any mention of the contingency plans that are in place?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No. The administration changes its tune on a daily basis. And it often coincides with who has the Presidents ear on the previous day. The people he should not listen to are Business people. They have one agenda only.

The State Govenors who were proactive to this, mostly Dems but some Republicans are the people who will come out with some credit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the president's natural go to people to listen to are business people. His whole term has been business based with almost zero empathy outside that bubble.

So business peeps says we need to protect business then that's what mr orangina will do

Something tells me I'm going to appreciate it all the more once this thing blows over. I'm already starting to do that now as I have to think of different places to go to walk the dog and avoid the people that are still around (before anyone says anything I know I'm one of them!)

.....

I am lucky that I have some stunningly scenic places on the Chesapeake Bay with loads of backwater creeks a short drive away. I take the dog for a walk to a different place every day now.

No I am not on about Mrs VC.

Very scary. And it isn’t his worse trait.

I love that area. That along with the Pembrokeshire coast are two of my favorite places in the U.K.

What type of dog do you have?

Most weekends I spend at least one afternoon with my doggo down the beach at a place called Point Cartwright. It's pretty much my Happy Gilmore "happy place" (yes, year round bikinis).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rescue dog that's a cross between a German Shepherd and a Mastiff I believe. That's what I've been told anyway! The "Happy Place" sounds good!

VC. I think we're all going to appreciate things more from now on. It's only a tiny bit of freedom that's been taken away really but it really does hit home how lucky we are really in some respects.

I've collaborated with scientists from Chesapeake bay area. I'd love to visit there one day. Seems a nice little corner of the world.

I have a group of them down my way who have been documenting dolphins coming as far up the Bay as Annapolis. I walk the dog past one of their research labs.

Very true Colemanballs.

I wish we could do more with the freedom we do have. Or is it a perceived freedom? One for the tin foil hat brigade that one!

We do have a freedom that people from other nations are envious off.

What we do with this freedom and what we appreciate this freedom is another matter.

Things that seemed important a few months back pail into insignificance now

I get the "business first" argument as much as the next person. But it still has a critical flaw with all its focus on mortality numbers.

Let's say we allow the virus to run free and saturate the population. How exactly will we get anything done with half the population out of commissionn for 3-4 weeks at a time? And by the time that lot gets over their illness, the other half falls ill for another 3-4 weeks.

Passing the virus back and forth like a game of CoViD tennis.

Has Italy been doing well?

Thought there’d been hundreds more deaths there everyday than here, though I know they are 2 weekday ahead.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Italy first reported case 29th Jan,UK first reported case 30th Jan.Still don't get this 2 weeks behind Italy scenario that keeps on getting trotted out
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's been explained several times.

Italy implemented measures 9 March, UK on 24 March

Still hard to figure out the death rates.

China was around 4%
Italy up at a scary 11%
Spain 8%
USA less than 2%
Germany less than 1%
France 6%
UK close to 7%

More older people in the south and living with family rather than stuck in a retirement home

Well forgive me if what I say might be out there and totally wrong.

But with 5 million being made unemployed in a week and growing,I'm sure Trump and his business mates will do the math.

Make sure businesses are protected, plenty of desperate workers that will work on to keep there jobs and equally plenty of desperate unemployed to take temp jobs to survive.

I think the amount that perish will not be high on the list in Trumps priorities

Let's put the mortality numbers aside for a bit. That's an entire Stalinist argument in itself.

Are these desperate workers prepared to spend 3-4 weeks at a time recovering from an illness, only to catch it again as soon as they put their shoes on and head back to work?

Ad infinitum?

Who is to say all the recently unemployed caught the virus?

Mouths to feed, rent to pay and little coming in,many will look at any income as a priority

So when will Chinese football be back on?

Anything will do at this point and J-league isn't too bad anyway for watching and placing a few punts.
