Would Manchester United fans say that Scholes or Keane won’t be remembered by fans in 20 years ?
I find that hard to believe - unless you’re just a glance at the scores kind of fan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would they be remembered by a foreign footballer who wasn't born when they retired?

They ought to - unless they were a glance at the scores kind of fan.

almost certainly.
The under 30 United fans then will laugh at the older fans on websites like this reminiscing about Scholes Keane Beckham etc, and dismissing then as not fit, fast, or good enough to play in the current game.
Just like they do on here now talking about the likes of Pele Best, Cryuff, Beckenbauer et al
Scholes and Keane would be more world renowned players because of the era and club they played for.

They wouldn’t need to know the history of players. You make it sound as though people are lining up at local library to divulge on past player glories.
I know the names of the great players from the eras before me because I watch the game. I see footage, I hear references, I’ve read things.
You come across as a glance at the scores kind of fan.
Don’t be ashamed for not knowing the likes of Baresi, Costacurta, Baggio etc. Some fans clearly take more of an interest.
The irony of course is that Pogba will be remembered - but not so much for his football. More likely his Tom foolery on social media.
As for no marks, you’re a man who spends his time goading the fans of the most successful club side in the land. Sit and ponder on that sore thought.

Liverpool were also not a massive World renowned club in the 1970s like they are now. Even though they won the European Cup 3 times. Just like Nottm Forest, who also won it twice.
United were alone as the UKs leading football club on the top table of Euro Football and we won feck all in them days.
