Whats more they are playing into Trumps hands which is going to cost the black community far more in the long term if he is re-elected. I shudder to think what it will cost the world. The protests initially erupted due to what was seen as injustice at the policemen involved not being arrested. But then they were arrested and charged pretty rapidly as they were always going to be. So now what are the protests about? So now all that is going to happen is to distract from the real issues they face.

This comment just illustrates how little you understand about oppression. The riots aren’t about a single murder, the murder we witnessed was the straw that broke the camels back. This oppression extends for hundreds of years and black people in America are still being treated as subhuman. Rioting and violence are actions of desperation, nobody is saying it’s right but the down trodden in any community will act the same way if they are oppressed. White people were literally confronting police with guns and breaking into government buildings, last week because they felt their freedom was being taken away. Now imagine you’ve actually been treated that way for generations because of the colour of your skin and not just because its for a global pandemic.

so black people can only protest iff they keep it peaceful regardless of who starts the violence... I guess this is why we see numerous videos of instigators (mostly unrelated to the protest) being stopped from carrying out violence by the actual protesters (admittedly not very successful)

As far as focusing on the looting, it's what the media will do, which will set the tone of things to come.
VC, you just don’t seem to understand why the protests are turning violent. Try and think why people are furious. Why peaceful protests are very very unlikely after another execution by a white cop on a black person.
Once you try and see the world from the eyes from someone who isn’t treated the same as you or I, only then will you understand why people are kicking off.

so black people can only protest iff they keep it peaceful regardless of who starts the violence... I guess this is why we see numerous videos of instigators (mostly unrelated to the protest) being stopped from carrying out violence by the actual protesters (admittedly not very successful)
But i guess this isn't good enough. Let's ignore the why this happening and focus on the actions of a few (mostly outsiders) to tarnish a cause.

Personally i have noticed through American buddies on facebook that their thoughts have gone from shock and horror at what the police did to now posting about what @ssholes the protesters are for smashing up cities.
Not sure how that is supposed to be a positive.

choose to ignore the context that a lot of the people starting the violence are white outsiders. A privilege only white people have. Imagine a black person going to instigate violence in a protest about some thing white americans care about, like guns for instance

VC, you just don’t seem to understand why the protests are turning violent. Try and think why people are furious. Why peaceful protests are very very unlikely after another execution by a white cop on a black person.
Once you try and see the world from the eyes from someone who isn’t treated the same as you or I, only then will you understand why people are kicking off.

Which is exactly the point I have been making. The media have now moved away from George Floyd and are focusing on the bad part of the protests.
Which is exactly what happened in Baltimore a few years back.

It isn’t a fantasy world. It is the law. Looting and stealing and arson isn’t going to help anyone. Especially the local community.
And considering the cop responsible is being charged with Murder what do you think this is now going to achieve?

Him and his fellow racists that are in the US Govt and seats of power throughout the land do not care if protestors decimate communities through violent protests. It is what they want.
