Chess was the big thing during the Cold War as well. Fischer vs Spassky. The Russians were facking gutted.

Love chess to be honest. Not that I'm outstanding at it but lose playing. It's rare I actually find someone who knows how to play. Therefore I have no practise and I'm crap. I tried to play online a few times and I swear those guys are the supercomputer that beat Kasparov.

Seriously though htf do you miss? You've got a free run at a keeper, with much if the target time aim for. It is easier than a penalty, which is already too easy.

Just go around the keeper ffs!

The Russians were the best at chess for about 50 years, to be fair. That’s why they were so gutted they lost.
Toor, I haven’t played chess for years. It is fun if you play someone of a similar level, I was never that good.
The history of chess is very interesting actually. Especially because of the cold war stuff and Kasparov doing a Phil Taylor and breaking away.

Yer
Is just as laughably easy as a regular spot kick
Nobody ever misses those unless they r sheet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's easier. You can actually make the keeper move where you want him to. In fact you could just run straight at him and power it in, you've got a full run up ffs!

Great track by Lo Fidelity Allstars called Kasparovs revenge.
Think there is a famous horse called Kasparov or something. Definitely crossed boundaries into folklore.
I was district cub chess champion. Got knocked out in the next tournament by a venture scout. Who becomes a venture scout? Nonces, that's who.
Some players would find pens easier and others wouldn’t. I reckon Messi would prefer the one on ones as he’s crap at pens but Ronaldo would rather have the spot kick.

Ive tried both n regular spot kicks r much easier as there r zero variables n u can practice n practice until u r grate at em
Running with the ball results in so many more things going thru ur head.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What?
No mate. Take it around the keeper, done. It's not even hard.
Yeah Kasparov is a celeb. Probably the only chess celebrity. Most won’t know any others.

I actually stayed behind in high school when none of my mates noticed, to play chess. Thought I was amazing beating the autists and the geeks. But the online games really knocked me unfounded confidence.

I don't know mate. I admit I've never tried it in a pressure situation but I was always better when running through on goal than penalties. Like you can literally move the keeper to one side and have one side of the goal to aim at.

Seen them live at Leeds Town & Country 20 odd yrs ago, Vision Incision and Battleflag were the tracks I seem to remember
Some really good computer programmes where you can alter the difficulty.
I've not played in forever though. Used to enjoy the three move checkmate every now and then. The megs of the chess world.
If you're a good dribbler and confident at rounding the keeper, the MLS pens are easier. Personally, I'd prefer them.
But if you're not the best dribbler and have good shot power, a standard spot-kick is way easier. Much less running through your head and easier execution.

Really solid album. I feel it's aged well too.
It’ll depend on the player. Take from me, I’d rather see Fellaini taking a penalty than running through one on one.

You have so may options, the keeper is at more of a disadvantage. At least he knows, guess a side he has a chance. Running at him, I'd be extremely confident I'm scoring. Although I was crap at penalties, so maybe that skews my judgement.

Yeah but Fellaini is crap at football. He’d run into the goal keeper. His shot actually wasn’t bad so I’d be more confident of him taking a pen.
I was actually better at one on ones than pens as well. For the same reason as you’re saying. But a lot of players are bad at keeping control of the ball and reading a keeper to score a one on one. Pens are easier for them if they can just smash it in the bottom corner.
Shouldn't be missing either really.
Having the ball is a massive advantage.
