We can but I think Liverpool have too much. Their squad is ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chronic, I definitely think Spurs match them squad wise. Spurs have shown they can easily compete in three different competitions this season, with very little fall off in results.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't start commenting on your strength of squad when you haven't really had it stretched to the extent that Liverpool have.
Considering the times where you have made wholesale changes, you've lost like in the EL to Royal Antwerp. So if anything evidence points that your squad isn't all that strong. Or not as strong as you think it is.
As good as Spurs look, I still don't think you've got enough to win it. Dropping points against teams like Newcastle, West Ham and Everton at home already isn't a great start and I can only imagine there would be 1/2 other banana skin results like that along the way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah he's defiantly getting ahead of himself there.
Squad depth wise Chelsea are ahead of them let alone Liverpool.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn`t Liverpool lose at home to Arsenal reserves, so how can you say Liverpool`s squad is better than any other teams. It isn`t. Most pundits even admit that Spurs have a very strong squad now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And you lost to Antwerp, your point is?
Comparing your back ups like for like.
Your keepers are as bad as eachother.
RB Docherty is better than N Williams
CB I'd take Matip over Sanchez, no point comparing R Williams and Rodin as they've barely kicked a top flight ball.
LB Davies is average not seen enough of that Greek LB so I'll give you that one by default
Wijnaldum and Miller are better than any of your back up CMs
Jota is better than any of your back up wingers
Origi over Vinicius
So you have fullbacks over them as far as your respective B teams are concerned, that's it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Jota is better than a fully fit Bale.
Miller is no way better than Lo Celso or Dele
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh and Vincinius has hardly played, and neither has Origi this season. So can hardly compare them either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh and Spurs back up goalies are better than Liverpools
Cmon Sandy, there's no point trying to make out we've got a better squad than Liverpool. The first XI is close, but they're definitely stronger across the 18/25.

Spurs have played more games, and had a more difficult schedule than Liverpool this season, two trips to Bulgaria for a start, didn`t Liverpool also lose to Arsenal at home in the League Cup, whereas Spurs beat Chelsea.
Who have Liverpool played that makes their start harder. Spurs have already played United, City and Chelsea this season in various comps. Liverpool beat a 10 man Chelsea, and didn`t beat City, and you can hardly say playing Arsenal is difficult. Liverpool have had not harder games than Spurs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 trips to Bulgaria. My Sunday League side could beat some of that shiiite crawling in EL qualifying. I'd expect your U18's to win.
United and City both labour in the bottom half of the table, good wins to beat them, but beating a wounded side is hardly much to talk about. Southampton started off poorly as it was, would like to see how well you would fair against them now. Not to say they aren't tough games and it's not to justify for Liverpool having a easier/harder start, but you can't gloss over other teams by making them out to be better than what they are.
The next month and going into the New Year will tell everyone how strong Spurs' title challenge will be. A substantial amount of the season has passed now and the table is largely beginning to take shape, with the odd exceptions with probably the likes of United, City and Arsenal making improvements throughout the season I'd imagine.
I think you forget you have actually dropped as many points as Liverpool this season. You may be top now, which fair play, but you aren't blowing away the league.
I think you have your view of the league as very, off. You believe this is as good as Spurs have been since god knows when but yet are only top via goal difference by a side you don't even claim to be your biggest threat, you put that down as Leicester.
You need to take your rose tinted spectacles off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like you aint got any rose tinted specs on. Not me saying that Liverpool have the best squad ever, it is you fella. You seem to be downplaying Spurs at every turn. Just give them some credit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't said Liverpool have the best squad ever, but I believe Liverpool have the best squad in the league. Level on points with you with half of the first team missing and squad which has been massively stretched would suggest this.
Not downplaying Spurs either, I have given you credit on this and many other threads for a good start and having a good squad and winning games etc. It's people like you that bring it on yourself.
Comments like Spurs will have the trophy in May. Leicester are a bigger threat to the title than anybody else in the league. Just Wumming on a constant basis and then can't take it when people actually put you in your place.

Liverpool with 4 starters out destroyed Leicester.
Spurs when they dropped their big names couldn’t put a single goal pass some Austrian farmers.
If Spurs lose Kane or Son, or both at any point, it’s game over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
4 salah, Taa, hendo, gomez, vvd. Also Thiago will be starting shortly.

Disagree mate, Spurs have a very strong experienced 18/25. Liverpool are having to bring in mainly untried youngsters to boost the numbers with three or four out. Spurs can fill up their squad with players like Bale, Lamela, Davies, Hart, Sanchez, Doherty etc. battle hardened Prem players.
Anyway we will see out it all pans out.

Liverpool have not got half the first team missing. One game only you had VVD, Salah and TAA missing. You are making out like you have had half the team missing all season.
Spurs also had players missing at the weekend, Doherty, Lamela, Dele, Winks, etc. Not the best set of players, but all have played lots of Prem games, so can be considered 1st XI material.
If say Liverpool are missing four of their best players for say three months or so, and are still winning matches, then fair enough. But most games this season, Liverpool have been more or less at full strength, other than VVD.

There's a reason he was available on loan, and there's a reason Mourinho isn't starting him. Jota can atleast say he's got two world class players Infront of him whereas Bale can't get Infront of Bergwijn and Lucas.
If Bale was anything close to his best you wouldn't have got him back atall, let alone on loan.
Even if Real were stupid enough to let prime Bale go, he'd have had all the top teams chasing him who would have blown you out of the water in terms of wage package!

I am out of here Don, I didn't start this one. All I am saying is that Spurs have very strong squad.
Liverpool are the faves and Man City will come good.
The problem for Liverpool is that they have a couple of serious long term injuries. The can cope with this but it does make them vulnerable if they pick up more key injuries, and this can take it toll as the season grinds on with a lot of fixtures crammed in.
How i reflected on their game at the weekend was it was a really good performance vs, on paper at least, decent opposition and although Leicester didnt really turn up, they beat them with ease. Therefore you can expect LFC to be able to beat most teams outside the top 6 with ease, the bread and butter wins.
So for Spurs to seriously challenge we also need those bread and butter wins without any slip ups. I think we have the quality to do that.
It then boils down to the big fixtures. The head to heads. This is where we have so often in the past failed to turn up ourselves....do what Leicester did at the weekend and not deliver when they had good form, a chance to go top vs a weakened LFC. Sadly for them its a bit of a Brendan trait. Hopefully for Spurs , the Jose trait of winning the big one-off games wins through over our more historical tendency to go all Spursy!
I think now, the players and squad are really starting to believe. Jose's teams are always good front runners, not such good chasers. He's got us up there so can he keep us in the chase?
I think to keep us in contention through to the new year when the UCL returns will be massive because it is always the Feb/March time when the toll of constant big games is hardest to cope with....and back to my original point, by then the likes of LFC will be suffering from having lost key players earlier in the season. Hopefully we will be less unlukcy, but also reaping the benefits of a large squad.
I am hopeful. We will need luck along the way of course. A lot of things are currently in our favour.
Its not really an argument lads, all good natured the way it should be
anyways we're see you lot on the 16th

i've taken jason de rolo out, put chris rea road to hell in at 40 and moved everyone else up 1.
sincere apologies for that.
No. I don't think Spurs squad is good enough and the team is too dependent on Kane and Son. Midfield is average and I think that when Spurs have to play teams that sit deep they will find it tough to.break them down. Best I could see Spurs finishing is 3rd, but they could just as easily finish outside the top 4.
These next run of fixtures will give a clearer picture on Spurs. Great start agst City, but some tough games Co. I g up for them.

Yeah that's fair to say Son and Kane are a huge part of our good form this season. On the flipside, though, we do have them and if they stay fit for the majority of the season we won't be far off the top of the table. Then there's the Bale wildcard. If we get there you'd fancy him to pop up in a final with a goal, it's what he does.
I don't agree that the midfield is average. Hojbjerg has been excellent following a slow start and Ndombele wouldn't look out of place in any of the top 4 sides. Lo Celso, too. Plus Dele if he sorts it out. Yeah we've got Winks and Sissoko hanging around but both have their uses in the right system. And, as proven by the City game, we have a manager now that will set us up to beat teams rather than just stick to one style whatever happens.
I think the bookies making us 5-1 for the title now is about right. We shouldn't be considered favourites but all things considered I think we're in the pack behind Liverpool. This season could well be defined by who survives best with Covid and injuries. Much too early to call.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs have played more games, and had a more difficult schedule than Liverpool this season, two trips to Bulgaria for a start, didn`t Liverpool also lose to Arsenal at home in the League Cup, whereas Spurs beat Chelsea.
