I don't see why everyone is getting so defensive about it fs
we're praising him for changing it ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one is getting defensive. It's just that your assumptions are only that.
I'm pretty sure the board would've seen it as an incomplete project, as would Gerrard.
Only this season has he actually got a full squad instead of having to rely on loans.

He was certainly questioning his position after that game. But I think he quickly decided he had board and squad backing.
Can't speak for everyone but I thought it he deserved another season at the time. He had shown enough in Europe and old firm games that he was on track.
He said at the start he thought it was a four year task to get the league and then compete in Europe. So to bin him after 1 season and two thirds would have been mad when there were obvious signs of progress.
If we ever go back to Dubai though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree.
There were days when many rangers fans out of frustration wanted him gone.
But I think when the dust settled a lot realised we were on a decent path.
A bit of squad strengthening and a few tactical tweaks and we seem to be in a different place👍

Fan shouts for manager's head after defeat shocker
Not as if it was a constant campaign with protests and the like
I didn't want him to leave
There's been clear progress each year.
I was gutted with the heart x 2 and Hamilton results though.
Nothing to say we won't repeat that trick, but there seems to be a steely determination in the team now. They don't look quite so soft.
Things can change fast though. I mean it's not long ago we were reading "bear bravado" and ILWT...

There's a huge difference between Gerrard and Lennon
Gerrard without getting the silverware could always be judged on a where they were when he took over to where now type thing
There had been clear Improvement at the club since he came in ,both on and off the field
I said this at the time ....but I went to a bar to watch the champions League cup final Liverpool v spurs
On the TV Gerrard appeared at a box , dressed in a suit taking in the game
I looked over and snaffled into the corner of the pub sat Lennon with his big grubby hand wrapped round a pint whilst he slurped on it !
It just seemed like opposite ends of the spectrum for me , and I think he does have a lack of professionalism
That crap he stuffs into his gum whilst managing ...I'm sorry but that is completely unprofessional ...what next ?
Sitting there with a pint ?
Wait until after the game ...until you've done your job

Mental how we don't know what gerrard or the board were thinking, but we know what all the fans who were screaming for him to be binner really meant that he was doing a good job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also mental how you lot don't know what Gerrard or the board were thinking but he was thinking of chucking it.
i think with such poor results and no trophies going into a massssive season like this they may have pushed the panic button.
i think a lot of fans wanted him gone and i think they knew that.
i think its daft that people on here are arguing otherwise, he turned it round, give him his praise and be happy about it without trying to pretend otherwise.
unless you all want to pretend you didn't want him gone and that you always knew he would come good.
if you do that i'll do it with lennon if he turns it around as well, and pretend i don't think his phish results resulted in me wanting him binned.
I didn't want him gone and I doubt the board wanted a man gone who was punching well above his weight in Europe and therefore bringing in far more money than we expected
There were calls for him to go after the Hamilton game and he questioned his own future.
Fans call for managers to be sacked after defeats all the time. Surely you all know that
He was never going to be sacked. Not after the success in Europe at least.
The board will have had a plan to give him long enough to build a squad that could compete. Last season we didn't have that. This season we do.
It's a funny straw you're all clutching that we wanted him gone ffs.
If Lennon goes on to start winning again all your protests will have been forgotten about immediately.
aye it was just the Hamilton game.
no the hearts games
or the killie games
or the previous season when it collapsed after January
just the Hamilton game, you all knew though, you all knew.
I don’t really get this ‘remarkable turnaround’ chat.
Rangers had a bad month or so last season.
We vastly overperformed in Europe, we were robbed of the Betfred cup final and we were top of the league at new year.
What is remarkable is how we managed to be so bad for that 4-5 weeks.
