I'd also imagine the Oxford one will be the one we get, because it was the Government themselves who contacted the regulators about the Oxford vaccine to ask them to look into regulating it a few weeks ago. PLus they have 4 million doses already sat and waiting to go out and they can ship those around the country in normal delivery or army vans with zero cooling equipment needed in boxes and can get it to vaccine centre or football stadia and they can just pull them from the boxes easily and as I said, it's cheaper. I'm pretty sure each Oxford one is about £5 a pop compared to Pfizer one which is £15 a pop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
40m people to be vaccinated whether it’s £5 or £15 matters not one fck versus the 400+ billions spunked on the economy and virus fight.

It’s -80C (industrial) for Pfizer
-20C (domestic) for Moderna
Refrigeration only for Oxford

People really need to read this article, the Oxford Vaccine has been worked on for years, not months as people are claiming. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55041371

The Oxford one is also in for approval and will be approved I'd imagine in a few weeks. I'd imagine this is the one we'll all get in the long term. Because it's cheaper, doesn't need to be stored at -10 (or whatever low temp) to work, like the Pfizer one. So it's much easier to distribute, not only here, but worldwide. I just feel more comfortable and trust taking the Oxford one.

Excellent

that's a great article, hopefully it can be shared to any sceptics out there.

and hopefully it gets approved it seems they have a great blueprint for other potential threats that may appear in the future.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, for sure. I've given up trying to debate this stuff on twitter etc with the sceptics. You just can't convince everyone with it. I've turned my family and friends round with it and that's all you can do and posted it on here also for this reason.

I first heard about the Oxford Vaccine in February, when they came out and said we have a vaccine and we are 99.9% sure this will work, we just need the funding. Luckily the government stepped up with the cash.

That was when I started to look into the Vaccine from Oxford, going on their website for updates and doing my own research on it. They also started production, before the start of the tests, hence why we have 4million doses already. They have a production site in Livingston and they bought the land next to that facility and are looking to double the capacity of production, plus it's always infrastructure there for any future diseases that may come up down the line.

I only want to take the Oxford one myself, as I trust them fully. Sure there can be mistakes, but it just seems like the right choice for me. Do your own research into it though.

Cheers for the temp storage figures there. Of course being cheaper doesn't matter too much, but every little helps, plus the cost is dearer in so many more ways with the others when you add in special refrigeration, transport and storage costs.

Good news

Did you find anything during your research not in the public domain ?

I would also think your own stance re ONLY wanting the Oxford version might give you some understanding of those who remain sceptical

Not everyone has the time inclination or ability to do detailed research

Hey, I'm not an expert here, (see my above not knowing storing temps) but the Oxford one has been successful with other viruses in the past. It's a tried and trusted method, whereas the others aren't and I'm more trusting in a University being in charge of things rather than just big pharma. Even if Oxford is of course working with Big Pharma as well with AstraZeneca, it's just my own views on it.

All of them might be safe, so don't take my word on things. I just have way more trust in that Oxford one.

Also the pfizer one seems to have been pushed more by the US government who also attacked the Oxford vaccine, saying we don't trust their (Oxford's) regulatory standards months ago, even though we in the UK have a way higher standard than theirs. Which seemed like a purely economic stance and pro USA stance, so what else have they done for the economics and politics of it?

I also don't get how they finished before the Oxford one. Again, just my own views.

Could be a similar story to Oxford
Covid in one form or another has been around a long time
You would also think all the big guys would have had teams on it

GSK and J&J also have the drugs ready to support their own vaccines which could be approved by spring

Might even get a holiday this year

The difference is Oxford have full control over their Vaccine, they are the ones in charge and calling the shots. Astrazeneca were more involved in the production and distribution side of things, as they are used to doing it.

Oxford, of course, will take a cut of cash in the future, they already said they won't take a penny from the first rollout. They will make cash if we need to take it once a year, which is likely, add in the licencing and AstraZeneca will get a percentage. I trust those Professors at Oxford more, as you don't go into that job for the cash. But two of them will who opened the company with the vaccine who came from Oxford

By March, I think everyone who wants a vaccine will have it by then.

I get sceptics not wanting to take a vaccine, but how many vaccines have these sceptics taken already in their lives? I don't get the tracking DNA changing nonsense. My only major concern with a Vaccine is sometimes people can take one, get the real virus down the line and the body can overreact, so you get the disease about 10 times worse.

A lot of people simply don't take 'stuff'

As you said you only fully trust oxford
So you don't fully trust the other major drug manufacturers

Not a huge jump to those who don't want to take it from there is it

Altering DNA is bonkers mind you

We have a long history of failed drugs being prescribed

Even the oxford link mentions the expectancy of unforeseen side effects with this is very possible

All that said and while I get to a degree why some just won't take it we need a concerted effort from our leaders to convince them to take it

This will be a major operation, but you don't think we can do this? They want the economy back to normal. Army NHS, people who have any sort of medical training are going to be trained to give out these Vaccines on a huge scale. It's in the countries interests to do this. When things need to get done on mass, you would be surprised who much a government can do. Look at what happened in WW2 when governments and other groups all join together. The major issue is vaccine production.

Because it's cheaper, doesn't need to be stored at -10 (or whatever low temp) to work, like the Pfizer one. So it's much easier to distribute, not only here, but worldwide. I just feel more comfortable and trust taking the Oxford one.

Track and trace is a totally different thing. This is just about the logistics of getting vaccines produced and distributed to areas then injecting people. That's it, it's not rocket sience.

Track and trace is also a pash poor analogy. That was about creating a new system to contact people and follow them up, done by a small group of people. Completely different.

WW2 is a fair analogy as we are going to have tons of people involved all over the country involved with this.

You don't deserve much else of a response.

"This is just about the logistics of getting vaccines produced and distributed to areas then injecting people. That's it, it's not rocket sience."

Do you not understand what is involved here? It's not a case of 'That's it, it's not rocket SCIENCE'. This is an unprecedented scale of immunisation for the UK and you think it's that simple and we will be all good for Easter?

Your use of WWII IS a p!ss poor analogy - it really is. How exactly are we going to have 'tons of people' involved in this? This is not a case of people having to 'Dig for Britain' because our imports weren't getting through due to U-Boats! You are going to have your normal medical professionals (who will also be dealing with their usual Winter load) and some squaddies.

As for Track & Trace involving a small group of people - you are very much mistaken and, IIRC, has cost the country nigh on £14bn and it is/was a shambles.

Seriously - if you think this vaccine is going to be rolled out to all by March then you are clearly living in a utopia which I would like to visit.

Castle you've done all this research but missed that Oxford / Astra are doing it non-profit.

The other two Pfizer/ BioNtech and Moderna were also being worked on for years like Oxford only with a focus on cancer vaccination iirc which imho is just as exciting for leverage.

The Pfizer can be stored at refrigeration temperatures for up to 5 days before use so the transport and logistics are not all that onerous.
