Salah, without a doubt

Salah needs one more goal this season to match Hazard's record ever goal tally for a PL season. Which is less than half of Salah's record total for a PL season. Does this suggest that Salah is more than twice the player Hazard is? Almost certainly yes.

At their best it’s not particularly close. Hazard is much better.

Not close, blimey. At his best Salah is close to a goal a game forward and just about as problematic for a defence as anyone in world football.

For it not to be particularly close you must really, really rate Hazard!

You could've just done another Jose article if you were this desperate for a load of 1 stars.

Well this was an epic fail wasn't it Wahl

If both players were guaranteed to put in a 10/10 performance in a match tomorrow, that was 100% to the BEST of their potential/ability then;

Salah would guarantee you two goals minimum. The other team would need to score at least 3 to win on the day.

Hazard would guarantee you get to watch an absolute magician, and could score or assist, but I still wouldn't say it was nailed on.

At their best, no I don’t think it’s close. Salah is fantastic, and his consistently efficient, but he’s got a more limited skillset. When Hazard is at his best he adds the end product in the final third, but the way he can just completely run a game for nearly 90 minutes as well just isn’t something Salah is capable of.

Neymar and Messi are the only two players that can do what Hazard does at his very best - and to a higher standard - I think people are forgetting just how facking amazing he could be for Chelsea.

Salah’s made more of his talents, and is probably a better player because of that. He’s more consistently impacting the outcome of matches. But that’s a different debate, the question was at their best. And yeah I don’t think it’s close, as good as Salah is.

I can see where Darren is coming from, I'm a massive Hazard fan, but Salah gets more goals and averages more assists so for all the lovely control, balance and dribbling at the end of the day it's about sticking the ball in the net.

Alternatively football us about entertainment and on his day Hazard was an absolute joy to watch.

I do think Salah is still somewhat underrated by some though. Some of his goals are insane.

Salah will never serve up the much Hazard did in 2015/2016 either.

Hazard can stick the ball in the net, though. And was the most creative player in the league usually. His team mates were just shiiiiiiit at putting it in the net, so the assist stats didn’t compare with a lot of other players. But I’m not talking about the players over a season, and their efficiency, just the players at their best. Salah just can’t do what Hazard does in a game when he’s on it.

Yep fair but Hazard could never hold the record for goals scored in a 38 game season either.

I do get what you're saying though but how far do we take that? I mean I've seen Hatem Ben Arfa do crazy stuff, Tarabaat too.

Hazard and Salah play different roles on the pitch.
A direct comparison does not make any sense.
Salah is is an attacker that produces goals and also disappears for periods .
Hazard as a midfield wizard, controls the game
brilliantly and produces loads of assists, scoring himself occasionally. Comparing the two players is not at all useful, their roles in any team quite different one from the other.

No he couldn’t. Which is why Salah is such an unbelievably valuable player. But that wasn’t the question posed.

Well if those players were compared with someone else it’d be a different argument. But that’s the thing with the ‘at their best’ comparisons, there’s a lot of players that at their best they are better than a lot of players they don’t perform more consistently than.

Ben Arfa’s actually a good one - though obviously not in Hazard’s class - as he was better than most players in the league at his best when he played in the prem.
