Only way to stop this is by hitting these b@stards where it hurts

In the fooking pocket

I won’t be buying anything off any broadcasters involved or any sponsors of this.

The league cup was created solely to let clubs make more money by having a midweek tournament taking advantage of the new floodlights that clubs had.

The PL itself, ironically, was a breakaway league formed solely so the clubs involved didn't have to share as much money with the football league.

This is hardly new.

What's new is the closed shop and the league will be run by the owners of the clubs.

Will be sad for real football fans, but the rest of the clubs will get on with it and hopefully be a more competive league without the cash cows.

They wont be playing in their domestic leagues or cups.

"Uefa, Europe's governing body, reiterated that warning on Sunday when it said players involved would be banned from all other competitions at domestic, European or world level and could be prevented from representing their national teams"

Personally I have no interest in the Champions league, and when we were not part of it seldom watched a premier league game. The fact that this group of 12 want to go off on their own with no promotion and relegation, makes me less likely to want to buy the product not more likely.

Which puts the Premier league in the position of either kicking them out and losing a huge chunk of the income they get, or refusing to kick them out so they can continue to receive that income.

At the moment the plan is that these teams will continue in the PL.

Wonder if they can do that legally?

Big Six?

Last time Spurs won the league it was covered by Pathe News.

Any competition that guarantees the big clubs participation is a joke.

Kick them out of the PL immediately.

If you can’t see the huge differences, well, what can I say.

Football in the 80’s was dying, premier league, while not perfect, been a huge success.

This will kill football, in most countries

How will it have any effect in the 150+ countries that are not European?

We get it... you're willing to lubricate yourself up as you're just an armchair supporter who doesn't actually care about the history or tradition of our national sport. You're in a massive minority. Go and troll elsewhere you full kit w-nker.

So in the whole of Europe 5 teams will be allowed in each season - out of how many countries? 20? 30? 40?

This will kill the game in many of the smaller countries - if not financially, it will in the fact that interest European football will die.

I predict fifa and uefa and these clubs will have discussions and despite the protestations this will happen in some shape or form.

Whether it’s a success I do not know, but the sport has really lost its way when it’s focussed solely on money and not the huge benefit sport has to peoples mental, physical snd emotional health.

Ah I see. The real issue you have is with "foreigners" enjoying English football even when they aren't foreign (Wales is part of the UK) and they live in England.

Did you literally miss the bit where I asked about the non-european countries? Because I was simply clarifying how this would kill football in "most countries" when most countries aren't involved in any form.

So correct me if i'm wrong. IF they let this go ahead instead of the CL and they still play in the PL will it not add anther 38 games to a season?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it is a minimum of 18 games per season, reaching 23 if you get to the final. The CL is currently 6 games and 13 if you get to the final, so it is somewhere between 10 and 12 extra games.
