ay that.

The Premier League is also presumably able to vote to kick them out if 14 of the clubs agree. Will they do so, if it means their own revenue is reduced because of the loss of these clubs? Will the owners of West Ham, or Newcastle be keen to potentially cut their own income?
—————-/———-

This completion will massively cut the next TV deal and future sponsorship deals.

They can’t bottle this, kick em out and see if it still goes through
----------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, why would it cut the next PL to deal?

From Sky these 6 clubs in the Premier League have signed up to 23 years of commitment to esl...

Throw these clubs out of the PL and don't facilitate, don't accommodate these 6 clubs in the U.K. at anytime in the future.

Because the premier league will be devalued:

You think Asia are going to pay the same as now, when they are going to be asked for huge sums for this tournament.

The TV deal will drop off a cliff, and it will in this country too.

People have has enough

But doesn't that already happen with the CL? If this tournament replaces the CL, but nothing changes for the PL then why will the interest in the PL drop?

I'm not saying you are definitely wrong, but I just don't see what the logical jump is.

A points deduction/relegation for this "Big Six" would just be immense and is definitely what needs to happen.

I won't be holding my breath, however.

Capitalism's greatest lie is that it encourages competition when precisely the opposite is what happens. When will people like Welshpool, and so many others, wake up to this?

I am definitely a bit perturbed by the investment of American money in our club, but AR has come out supporting Gary Neville this morning and Paraag Marathe has banged on in the recent past about the importance of the fans and the historical/cultural context in which the club operates - I hope someone will be interviewing both for their take on this very quickly.

Either these owners have seriously misjudged the mood on a gigantic scale or it is all a massive bargaining tool to get more cash from TV rights. It is one hell of a gamble though and incredible brinkmanship that could seriously back fire.

Will Fifa Uefa the Premier League call their bluff or will they just roll over and get their tummy tickled?

Where have I even commented on the nature of capitalism?

I've already stated I am against the Super League and would prefer to see the current status quo. Doesn't mean I get to do that though. I was against my rent going up last year but I still ended up paying the new amount.

The CL was a reward for being elite but also opened the door to up coming teams to ascend to that level of wealth and prestige. This is the top clubs closing the door on any form of progression and ascension to the highest level.

They have taken the very notion of what is sporting and buggared it with money.

It’s anti sport and football.

funny how the same clubs were looking for premier league t be changed not that long ago so they would never be relegated and they would have total control over the rest of the league.
Time to kick them all out and see how they get on with a limited self centred little league that proper football fans will turn their back on although it will probably be the cause of quite a few teams in europe going broke.
Dont really get how it can be a super league when some of the biggest teams in europe arent going to be in it.

It has been well documented that American owners do not understand the concept of promotion and relegation and repeatedly say this is no way to run a business.

There lies the problem. The Solution is if you don't like it get lost and choose a different business model to get your grubby little hands on and rip out it's soul.

That doesn't really answer the question though. Based on what we know so far, how does the Super League effectively change the Premier League to the point that sponsorships will fall?

The only mooted difference is that the 6 clubs will always be playing in the Super League the next season (which you correctly state is not meritocratic) but presumably the europa League will still exist and teams can qualify for that (actually other teams will be more likely to qualify). There will still be mostly the same teams playing and there will still be relegation and a title that will almost certainly be won by a 'big 6' team.

It’s not replacing the CL. It a new tournament.

All other TV deals will be devalued, in every country.

OK, it replaces the CL as the primary European comp, meaning the CL would be devalued. Still not sure how this affects the PL.

Because it will lock out everyone else out, you won't be getting rewarded for finishing in a champs league spot, therefore wont get the money or the players.

It's not that hard to understand

Wonder what would happen if players were told no longer allowed to play international football
Would players still be that greedy that they would give up glory with their national teams
What would happen if the squads from all these clubs turned round and put in transfer requests
Would the players see this as a way to gain more power and larger pay packets
No matter what way this all goes football and the fans are going to lose while greedy owners who dont care about anything but money will just get richer

posted on 19/4/21

You don’t think having 6 clubs with minimum 350m head start in everyone isnt going to devalue the league.

The last TV deal, went down for the first time.

This will bring it down further, I honestly don’t see how you can’t see this

Welshpool, your arguments support the acceptance of monopoly capitalism and its logical consequence: greater inequality, exclusion and exploitative practice. An ESL on these terms does not simply replace the CL because there is no prospect of relegation from it.

No relegation: what does that mean Welshpool?

How long will it be before the likes of man ureted and the others are based in LA or somewhere in china. These greedy owners care nothing for fans, tradition and history and only concerned of when their next pay day is
