martinez should have been the england manager from 2013 onwards

posted on 4/5/12

i would like pep guardiola to be arsenal manager. think he'd come to us however i do feel he might be a risk cause he may not be as good as people think.

roberto martinez id be happy with him cause i really rate him, i think if it wasnt for him you'd have gone down last season. however maybe he needs some experience at a bigger club

Tranquil Chaos why whould he leave wigan for england.... england dont play like he wants, the pressure whould be massive, big egos whould be there and there isnt much to gain

well i am so happy moses is staying

what england should have done is give the job to an unemployed manager with a proven track record in cup competition like benitez for a one tournament deal, then give a martinez or a rodgers a long contract, insist theres no pressure for the next world cup and the euros, give them 6 years to fashion the team into their own style, with the focus being on the 2018 world cup, by which point, the academy in burton should be up and established, with all the younguns playing the same style so they arent all brought un in the english style of strength over skill

are you really duluded enough to think lots of managers want the england job... rodgers and martinez whould not want be england manager because it seems if im honest a rubbish job compared to PL managers

you whould think benitez whould have applied for it beig unemployed but only one real manager did....

in all honesty, i wouldnt know if theyd want the england job or not, im sure the prospect of the money could be a tempter, its just annoying when the smallmindedness of the fa saying that the next manager must be english, no the next manager must not be english, it must be a manager that can play a good style of football, that can be good for the future of the young english players and and the fututre players alike, instead of that, we get a manager that throws his players under the bus, alienates players and plays a tedious style of football that is gonna turn the press against him quickly, which is only boosted by the fact that their mate arry didnt get the job

the only good part in selfish terms for me is that glen johnson will be getting a rest in the summer, which is fantastic because he has become a vital part of our defence since kenny has come back

so happy that he is in charge better then arry any day of the week...

it just annoys me when people seem to think every manager in the world wants to be england manager which simply isnt true

posted on 4/5/12

i dont think every manager would want to be england manager, thats why i pointed out managers of mid table clubs, where potentially getting england to a semi final of a major tournament can be considered a bigger achievement than premiership survival

and having witnessed hodgsons managment style first hand, i can safely say im not going to enjoy this championship

haha are you having a laugh... have you sen what the man has done in football

just because he was given a job where nobody in the club wanted him with a team who niether wanted him or were his own you think that is going to make england a bad team

he transformed swidish football

Made Swizerland a top 3 team

took a rubbish inter side to third in the league and set them up to make them wht they are today

took blackburn to 6th and for a long while they were challanging for the PL

took the UAE uncoachable team and made them into a solid team who were actully quite good

almost took finland to its first world cup3 points away

took fulham to the europa final having kept them up one season before

had a bad time at liverpool but tbh your savior hasnt fared much better and took west brom right up the table....

and how is that any different to now, the players arent his own, and frankly are an arsier lot than the liverpool players, and fyi, initially the liverpool players did want him, he persuaded torres to give him a chance, and we were only hearing good things from the players, then he got them on the training pitch, boring military style drills, which treated the players like children, do you really think the likes of terry and rooney are going to be responsive to that

please do not get me to keep writing about hodgson during his time with us, id be here for a while, and i can feel the anger seeping out of my pores

and nowhere did i say that kenny is our savior, he has made some massive errors this season, spent too much on downing, played hendo out of position way too often and generally the style we played has regressed from when he was first brought in, which is why if we were to bring a new manager in this season, i wouldnt be too angry, but i expect kenny to be given another season, without a director of football, and if his signings for next season arent working out and we are still struggling to score, i wouldnt be surprised to see him sacked before january next year

just seen this paddy power advert on the liverpool page, love it

where was he playing henderson??? RM??

posted on 4/5/12

yeah, it was clear he wasnt cut out for that role early on, but kenny kept playing him there (although to be fair to him, kuyt has been pretty dire for us this season), and only recently has he been putting him in the middle, and he has shown alot of improvement there, if kenny doesnt buy a top striker next season, then id be pretty happy if he played lucas and hendo sitting, with gerrard off suarez

Luuk De Jong to Liverpool 12.5m

posted on 4/5/12

i lo.ved that deal when it happend and i still love it now i dont think he will ever make it to be that 20m pound player but i do think he could be a decent squad member for you

posted on 4/5/12

i think for the eventual position he is going to play, only the elite players like a mascherano or a yaya toure are worth that kind of money, i think it all depends on wether they keep him as a holding player, or try to mould him into a player that can play further up the pitch

posted on 4/5/12

he was sunderland third best youngster the season you signed him

posted on 4/5/12

thats a moot point now though, i like him as a player, have more patience with him than most other liverpool fans and he certainly not the worst signing we made *cough*Downing*cough*

posted on 4/5/12

i think hodgsons job was made worse by the fans never supporting him. he didnt do well but he has done no worse than kenny did.

^ what i said

oh, he did a much worse job than kenny, he alienated players and fans alike with his style of football, if hed have stayed on, either in january, or at the end of the season, we would have certainly lost agger and johnson, 2 pivotal players in our fantastic defence for this season (something which kenny has got mostly right this season) as he questioned johnsons ability, and dropped agger because he wasnt comfortable with roys lump it up style of play, the only sucessful signing made during his time was meireles, who was mostly average apart from a good scoring run (under kenny) and he wasnt even roys signing.

the way he made us play was boring, ineffective, and just plain bad, it was a case of lumping it up from the back and hope torres or god forbid ngog coiuld do something with it.

the final straw for the fans was when we played absolutely awful in a merseyside derby, and hodgson had the bare faced cheek to say that it was the best perofrmance of the season by us

another quote of his was that the best us fans could hope for after 19 games is that we were in the top half of the table, you do not say that, especially with the players he had at his disposal.

The reason the fans support kenny, is due to a number of reasons, he is a club legend, and quite probably the best player we have ever had play for us, but also with the same players hodgson had, but with suarez instead of torres and babel, he got us to the semi finals of the europa league, where we only lost in extra time, and got us playing such a style of football that was pleasing on the eye, as well as getting us the results which we didnt get under roy, the reason it worked so well is because he worked with the players we had, and built the style around them, so the more technical players like maxi and meireles got more time, and kenny was rewarded with performances by the whole team and we were scoring for fun.

where it all started to go wrong was when kenny was given the chance to buy his own players, he made the mistake of moving away from the style of football he used last season, and brought in players that were probably hard work over style, and whilst we were struggling with our home form, we were still doing reasonably well if the first half of the season, and then came our season wrecker, lucas got injured for the rest of the season, even at that point, most fans outside liverpool were still struggling to see what lucas brought to the team, but since his injury, kenny has had to tweak and tweak his midfield because we didnt have a direct replacement, and in my eyes, is only just starting to get it right with hendo and spearing/shelvey holding, with gerrard closer to suarez.

and despite our league form not being fantastic, its still a fair bit better than hodgsons, but as an added extra to that, the only teams that kenny has been knocked out of the cups by are atletico and united, his cup runs have been overlooked by many in the press because of kennys spiky attitude with them he has won the league cup, got to the final of the fa cup, and was minutes away from a penalty shoot out the get to the final of the europa league, whereas hodgson, in yet another embarassing performance, was knocked out of the carling cup by northampton.

so in summary, kenny has been a lot better than hodgson, but due to this seasons penchant for hitting the woodwork and not scoring enough, should still be under pressure for his job, i still think he will be manager nex season, and will be given a chance to rectify his errors, if he can keep the back 5, have lucas back, and bring a winger and a goalscorer in, i dont think it would be unfair to ask of him to mount a serious challenge for a top 4 spot, if he doesnt make those sort of signings, or if he does, and we are disappointing again, i would not be surprised if he were to get sacked

De Jong + Elm/Ramirez

Liverpool bound i reckon

posted on 4/5/12

elm and ramirez id say are pretty close, de jong, not so sure, there seems to be alot of competition for him, and id imagine there are a few clubs that can offer him CL football, which may lead him to picking them over us

posted on 4/5/12

But despite there poor form it is still Liverpool mate a massive club..there are a number pof clubs afte dj but just have a sneaky feeling it will be Liverpool if they offer the right money/deal.....
