Regardless of who is doing what, this trend of judging things to todays standards from bygone eras is quite tiresome. Things change, thank god, and we move forward. Plastering ridiculous headlines and virtuous labels on a time when people didn't know any better is bonkers.
Both sides need to grow up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you please tell me who is putting those things in the headlines and stirring people up? I've only seen it splashed in 1 paper this morning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you are going to ignore the sentiment of the post completely. ffs. No wonder bridges never get built.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Not at all, i'm just trying to explain to you that your saying both sides etc when one side (BLM) has NOTHING to do with this, but they are being thrown in with the silly Enid thing, just to get people angry. You are literally being manipulated to hate something that doesn't exists...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty sure i didn't hear BLM mention Enid Blyton in the protest, but according to the Daily Mail, it's their faultcertain things just don't age well, but i PROMISE you BLM doesn't give a feck about Enid Blyton.

I really don’t get how this is considered a new thing with Blyton though. Saying there were racist and xenophobic elements to her books has been said for 50 years already. Why is it news again now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think its because the English Heritage (the blue plaque people) have written it on there website.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah. Still not sure it’s newsworthy!

It’s not looking at it out of context though, it’s applying the same critique that was said during her lifetime too (and I’d find a modern day biography not referencing it to be even stranger tbh). That’s why I don’t really get the issue.

Neither am I. I don't necessarily agree with what the English Heritage have done, but I'm not going to rage about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not rewriting history but it is looking at it out of context to the time things occurred
Perhaps in the future folk will look at our Prime minister and wonder why we elected a serial liar and clown shoe
Nowt strange as folk
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty sure this period will not be remembered too fondly in 50 years time.
Imagine people looking back on Trump, Brexit, the booing of anti-racism gestures etc.

This behaviour has been enabled by a large section of the government, it’s not surprising. This country is more hostile to live in compared to before.
