Ferguson was already an established manager before the requirement for coaches to have a UEFA Pro licence was brought in. He was awarded an FA Coaching Diploma (as they guessed he probably knew what he was doing).

Interestingly, he's a regular speaker at the two day residentials for coaches working to attain their pro licence (they've worked out he probably knows what he's doing).

I’ve been to a few of those.

SAF is entitled to his opinion but I don't think he's fully right on this one. He didn't always select his best eleven players but he did always try to select the best XI to win the game within the context of a season as a whole..

Ronaldo will need resting and I think Ole thought he was definitely going to play both games for Portugal during the international break so he though resting him now to give him a really good long break was the best move. As it happens I think it was the correct decision too as we were leading when Ronaldo came on.

I suspect in our next game we could well see players who haven't played much during the international break. I can't imagine the likes of Sancho and Lingard, will get full minutes for England and there's also Greenwood and Rashford who should be fresh and ready.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is not only entitled, he is well qualified as well to have comments on footballing matters
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually he isn't qualified. Doesn't hold any UEFA coaching badges.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who doesn't hold any UEFA coaching badges?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fergie
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, even though it is mandatory to hold a UEFA Pro license (or equivalent) to manage in the top division of football in England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France, Fergie had no UEFA license whatsoever?

Somehow, he managed to bypass the laws of the game to manage at Man United for 26 years?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope he didn’t have one. Ole does though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a manager Fergie was then. Imagine being renowned as the greatest person in your profession ever and not even being fully qualified to do that job. Hats off.

He joins other renowned frauds Busby, Shankly, Paisley and Clough. Not a UEFA Pro Licence between them.

No he isn’t. And he is being a hypocrite. He frequently did not play his best players.
----
Oles team atm cant string 2 consecutive good performnaces together and hes playing the sqaud rotator

..................

Good grief. He rested a 36 year old for one game. For another top class player in Cavani.

I bet you were one of the people moaning at Ole for burning out players last season.

Anyone who thinks Ronaldo should start every game is off his rocker, and that includes SAF.

This is where nuance is your friend. He doesn’t mean your best players should start 65 games a season. He means play your best players as much as you can and there will always be rest games (dead rubber CL games, FA Cup early rounds, league cup Etc ).

The game before an international break only 6 league games into a season isn’t the time to rest your best player. Especially when it’s against a side we’ve struggled to beat in recent years. SAF would have started Ronaldo, tried to win the game as early as possible and taken off Ronaldo on the 60-70 min mark.

I genuinely don’t know how you got to the age you’re at now without understanding that things aren’t as black and white as you seem to think words are.

Not starting Ronaldo had nothing to do with the dropped PTS. You could actually argue we played better first half than we did 2nd anyway with him on.

The midfield was the issue as well as absymal d fensive discipline from defenders. Luke Shaw was especially awful at the weekend which pains me to say as I'm a big fan. He was always out of position.

posted on 5/10/21

It's been an utterly miserable run of form, starting with that Young Boys game. Ferguson's right if he's trying to put the cat among the pigeons.

................

Which the Ronaldo fans have conveniently forgot or dismissed.

Ole has so many faults as our manager, resting Ronaldo against Everton was not a bad call.

What we should be talking about was starting McFred against Everton. That was a bad call.

posted on 5/10/21

McFred's not going away, and it's going to keep hurting us.

posted on 5/10/21

It isn't. However 'McPogba' is equally awful. They were both embarrassing in midweek Vs Villarreal and Fred didn't even start.

The truth is we don't have a good enough midfield whoever plays. None of the combinations are PL winning standard let's be honest.

That's why I don't think the 4235 works. The only way to get make that remotely effective is to use Matic plus one of the others (but not Pogba), and Matic can't last a whole game. Out of the other three there's only Donny with a football brain.
