SAF is of course, correct, however it seems most of you you are missing the point SAF is making.
If Ronaldo was fit enough to come off the bench, then he was fit enough to start. If he is fit enough to start, then he should start.
The truth is we don't have a good enough midfield whoever plays. None of the combinations are PL winning standard let's be honest.
...................
Which is why we should have fixed the issue in the last window instead of bringing back Ronaldo.

Absolutely. No denying that. The club were scared he'd go to City and that would have been hugely damaging for club image.
I said in the summer that if he was close to going to Bayern we wouldn't have even moved for him I don't think. It was all about the message it would send him going to City whether you agree with it or not.
We badly need a midfield overhaul. I'd sell all of them bar Scotty who is keep as a squad player. Pogba would be first one out of the door.
Donny should / could play the Carrick role for us.
When Fergie used a double pivot we had Scholes and Carrick in there, both world class passers. Spot the difference?

Ronaldo may have been signed partly for commercial purposes, but part of supporting United (at least for the last 30 years) is accepting that as a club, we are far more reliant on our commercial revenue than some of our domestic and European rivals.
And let’s be honest, Ronaldo and sent a bad layer to have.
That's why I don't think the 4235 works.

It's just the quality of players, isn't it? Carrick / Scholes / late period Giggs were all around when Fergie used it, and all of them could play.
I have no doubt that with Sancho / Rashford / Fernandes in front of them a really good double six would make this team dynamite. But there you are, it is what it is.

What's that got to do with anything?
Fergie was still totally out of order with what he said by the way.

Donny could play that Carrick role for us.

Maybe, it's conjecture at the moment.

Are you of the opinion SAF is to be treated as being right all the time. Because in this instance he is not, by his very own doings.
I honestly think he dropped a little hand grenade in there on purpose. Whether he actually meant Ronaldo should have started or not, he's publically giving them all (including the players as well as the manager) a reminder that things haven't been good enough recently. One thing he never let players do when he was manager was get comfortable.
Or maybe I'm reading too much into it and he just answered an off the cuff question in an off the cuff way. You decide.
