Isn't it 2 league titles with the most recent being over 60 years ago?

Spurs are exactly where they basically always have been.

One thing people sh1tting on Chelsea, City and to a lesser extend Utd don't realise is that while the owners have pumped multi-millions into the club, none of them are willing to make a loss business wise in the long term (either operational or if they would sell the club in a post-Corona recovered market). And I believe all 3 of them are actually huge net positive investments due to winning trophies and growing the brand among new and younger fans

Now ENIC basically has the same business goal in mind but didn't go/want to go all in on getting trophies (due to too heavy competition?) so instead they went all in on the stadium to create value for their investment. So yes, there is alot of thruth to them being glorified property developers, but it was really predictable from a business standpoint.

I only know 2 real sugar daddy clubs (PSG and my local Dutch club FC Utrecht). I mean you cannot be seriously running a business when you throw away 200m for Mbappe without blinking or making a 10m loss year after year without any future prospects of winning silverware)

What Spurs have done is what almost every other club does.

Seeks to maximise its revenues.

Spends its revenues on the club / team, striving for greater success (a relative thing) and looks to reinvest to keep it moving forward. Borrowing is part of this mainly to grow club infrastructure.

Only a very small handful pump in 100s and 100s of unearned millions to fast track this success and make it a viable elite club

The expansion of our revenue through diversification of the use of the infrastructure is maximising an assets potential. That is all. No different to clubs leasing conference facilities in their stadium etc, but on a much bigger scale.

The thing with City/CFC/PSG is that they cannot afford to fail so they are not allowed to. That is a comfort that 99% of businesses do not have.

I was one of the absent 10,000 for the Villa game. I missed the game for personal reasons, nothing to do with how the team was playing.
Cannot speak for the others that missed the match.

Incidentally you say you have wanted ENIC out for 8-9 years, why?
It’s only 2 years ago we were in the CL final, so we were not doing too badly then, we’re we?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That wasn’t because of ENIC mate. That was Pochettino creating miracles on a limited budget. He was handicapped pretty much throughout his whole tenure. They are not responsible for anything good going on the pitch. All Pochettino that. All they are is glorified property developers, along with that bald ** Levy

Totally agree. I wanted to point out that it's a strategy ENIC/Spurs could also have pursued, but didn't because if you are the latecomer (4 or 5th club in the league after Everton/Leichester to do the same) it becomes more and more risky and thus not worth it.

I can already tell you that Newcastle will have a hard time succeeding with this strategy and with more risk even if they have 10x as much money to spend as City/Chelsea...

Part of our problem is a large section of our fanbase, who after 20 years of ENIC`s misery, are now suffering from clear Stockholm Syndrome, they now think like ENIC and believe there is no other way to run a football club.

They have lost sight of the fact that first and foremost, Tottenham Hotspur is a FOOTBALL CLUB, and not some vehicle to help increase the value of our owners investment.

People are fed up and sick of waiting for ENIC`s so called master plan to come to fruition, they are increasing the value of the club but most fans don`t give two shietes about that, they want to see regular silverware.

In case some people have forgotten what will all this talk of revenue, profit, net spends and balance sheets, this club once had a period of winning 11 major trophies in a 23 year period, which is almost a trophy every other year. Sugar and ENIC have delivered 1 trophy for every 12 years since.

I support Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, not Levy and ENIC`s profit making vanity project.

And that’s the issue Billy, fans are pretty happy to accept failure because it’s better than where we were during the 90s. Always the same bulls** of “look where we were before ENIC took over”. We are a more established club in terms of finances I’ll give them that. That’s not what we want though. We are no better off as a club success wise because we don’t succeed with anything. We weren’t successful during the 90s and we ain’t successful now either, but with the biggest ticket prices in Europe and the supposed “rise” the club were looking to build, I find 1 league cup in over 20 years + abysmal. Real small time.

Also luck that we beat City and Dortmund. All luck.

Funny. If we had coughed up the lead that Ajax did, it would be Spursy bottlers. We instead show amazing belief to turn it around and its consigned as luck. Utterly pathetic!

I watch those highlights now and still go goosebumpy. Others clearly have other feelings about one of our most memorable games in decades.

Goosebumps at the time 100%. Amazing feeling. I was crying, so trust me, I know how the feeling was on that game, but at the end of the day, what did we achieve ? We stunk out that final and didn’t even touch a hair on Liverpool’s head that game. An extremely disappointing end to what was an amazing run in the CL. All that work and to mess up and bottle it in the final. That Lucas moment was amazing, but it will always be remembered for us being nearly winners, rather than actual winners. That is the issue with our club mate. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

its pretty normal to assess the job someone has done by looking at a situation before they started, and having a look at the situation when they have done, or are still doing the job.

when you assess ENIC it is logical to look at pre ENIC times, and compare it to now.

stadium and training ground - 10/10
raising the profile of the club - 10/10
improving results and performances on the pitch over their tenure 8/10
competing for and delivering trophies 3/10.

you may think 3 is generous... but we have been in countless semi finals and finals, and a combination of players bottling it, poor management, being beaten by genuinely better sides has meant that our trophy haul has been poor

that said, it is disappointing that Joe Lewis hasnt injected his own cash into the club. He is so filthy rich that it wouldnt even be on the radar... but its a business, and he became filthy rich by not doing things like that.

as a fan its a shame, but I understand it. the ENIC out brigade want someone to come in and operate spurs as a toy, throwing money at it.... the problem with that is it can go two ways. people sometimes get bored of toys, and as we have seen with other ownerships, their are a lot of bad situations out there. at least with ENIC we know they operate it as a business and wont gamble the club.

I think this is the crux of the problem with some Spurs fans.

We don't have a a sugar daddy,. But neiher do LFC, Utd, Leicester etc.

What it comes down to is decision making but if you are debating with someone who classes any good decision as luck or an achievement such as making the UCL final as luck, then there is no point having that debate.
