Anyways speaking of sub genres, what are the favourites in here?

I might lean more towards paranormal.
---------------------------------------------------------
Claustrophobic
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ooh, examples?
----------------------------------------------------------
My favourite claustrophobic horror would probably be the first Saw film, but just about any I'll find something to like about them, even overrated ones like Devil (IMO) still not bad. Get tension boosts just from the nature of the formula.

The last horror I saw was a claustrophobic made during the first lockdown called Host. Pretty good.

Besides them as I've grown up I've taken a lot of joy out of horrors with much unintended humour. Freddy vs. Jason, for example, has aged VERY well for me

Devil you must have loved The Descent in that case

For the claustrophobia obviously, not the laughs lol

Not sure it technically classes as horror but a great claustrophobic ‘horror’ is the Ryan Reynolds film ‘Buried’.

It’s easily The Witch
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No way. Not even a horror in my book.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Depends what you consider horror to be.

Jump scares? Gore? Not for me. The Witch is a masterpiece and a beacon of the genre. That was the general consensus upon its release.

I recommend the new A24 movie ‘Lamb’. It’s….very .. A24. That’s all I’ll say 😂 🐑

The Witch is well made, and has a unnerving vibe throughout but I agree with others that it is kind of boring.

A great Argentinian horror I saw a couple of years ago was actually quite scary - called ‘Terrified’ (Aterrados)

Other great ones…

The Nightingale
Midsömmer
The Loved Ones

Malignant is one of the most mentally bad/great horrors of the last 10 years so check that out. The Night House was a recent release I liked. One disturbing Australian horror that leaves a bad taste in your mouth is Killing Ground. Snowtown is also a shocker. The perfect antidote to what people assume Australia to be after years of Home and Away conditioning 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The loved ones….is that the crazy Australian one where the girl and her dad kidnap the kid she wants as a prom date?

Haven’t seen that in years if it is that ?! It was pretty good

The torture scenes were nasty

I always liked the wolf creek films too , the 2nd one I thought was better

Obviously something about nutcases and Australians

The guy who plays the lead is great in them (he did the series as well)….convincingly crazy

Something Jarrett….

Yeah, one of the Australian greats. We’ve done some of the best horrors of all time which says a lot about the perception of the country 😂

The Loved Ones
Wolf Creek
Picnic at Hanging Rock
RazorBack
Killing Ground
Babadook
The Nightingale
Snowtown
Rogue (really recommend that)
Wake in Fright
Patrick
Hounds of Love
Wyrmwood

Among many others

John Jarrett. Tarantino is a huge fan of Australian horror and that actor specifically and cast him in Django Unchained

Wolf creek was decent. Based on those murders of the English backpacker in real life, right?
