Rome wasn't built in a day.
Alternatively, things go sour under Conte and meanwhile United reset and go for Pochettino at the end of the season. If we’d beaten them, they’d likely go for Conte leaving a clear run for us at the end of the year to go for Poch.
I’m not saying it will and I’m happy we have Conte but we can’t truly judge things now without hindsight. What if Conte gets frustrated in a year and Poch returns Man United to the dominant force they once were? Go’s is hate that. It’s like your ex dating one of your mates.
Let's wait and see if Conte is backed first before getting all giddy, there is a possibility it all ends in tears again with Blofeld in charge

Don't get me wrong, I loved Poch (and always will, in the same way he will always love us ), but I can't remember many games under Poch where you felt that he turned a game around with subtle tactical tweaks, the way that real elite managers do. Who knows, Carrick might surprise us all
Weird to think how comprehensively beaten we were that day and a few weeks later we sit ahead of them after they have just been ranked by Watford. Probably the greatest 3-0 loss ever.
Who would of thought that a 0-3 drubbing to a poor Man Utd side in a death spiral would turn out to be possibly the greatest result in a fixture involving Spurs for many years
-----------
There isn't exactly much competition, Spurs haven't won anything of note since the FA Cup 30 years ago, Antonio Conte isn't going to change that.

Tbf he might. Wouldn’t bet against them for one of the league cup or Euro Conference trophies.
If we’d beaten them, they’d likely go for Conte
-----------------
Nah. If we wanted Conte we'd have gone for him after the Liverpool game. Similarly, if Conte had any indication we wanted him he'd probably have waited a few weeks. No offence.
Rightly or wrongly (rightly imo), I dont think we were ever in for Conte.

After having a manager who looked like he spent his matches wandering how he’d rearrange his IKEA dining table set I’m sure our fans would have loved Conte’s passion.

Which I can completely understand. For all his recent success there is Jose-ness about his short-termism. Once you’ve tried and failed with Jose it’s then very hard to go for someone that has a similar track record for creating immediate success followed by an absolute car crash. United are in the unique position of wanting a blend of success with long term planning, which is clearly a lean towards the Fergie days, and I can’t think of anyone better than Poch. He’s brilliant, loyal and almost got us to the promised land. Imagine what he could do with your budget. You could argue he’s got a bigger one at PSG but they’re crackers. It’s CL or bust every year.

Conte has a really long way to go yet with various Levy-shaped obstacles in the way. If he is to be the success we hope he will be based on his reputation, then we should be winning a cup of some description and getting back into the top 4, at some point during his tenure. This is all under the assumption he'll be here for about 2 years or so.

No it won’t, Conte obviously wasn’t who we wanted otherwise we’d have appointed him.
It’s daft that people think that Conte’s future destination was contingent on the result of who won that game.

You might be right…. However if Spurs had won and Nuno kept his job and we’d kept losing and been where we are now with no real idea on who to hire - surely Conte would seem far more appealing to the decision makers at United than a few weeks ago when there was still hope Ole could turn it around?
