Was reading yesterday an article in the Athletic by David Ornstein on Max Kilman and his England eligibility, which was tweeted on by Tim Spiers. Kilman had been called up to a pre Euros training camp by Ukraine and had meetings with Andrei Schevchenko in London. Zinchenko at Man City had also been tapping him up apparently. Ornstein referred to a FIFA rule which states that a player cannot have played for more than one nation in any competitive fixture and it seems that extends to Futsal. Sounded like BS to me so I replied to Spiers tweet to check and to his credit he came back and said yes apparently the FIFA rule applies be it beach soccer, futsal or ordinary togger. (If Id read all of Ornstein's article he stated the same actually). Seems odd to me that you can play in age group games or full international friendlies for one country before settling on your international future but play a competitive game of 5 a side and your locked in.

Yeah it is pretty ridiculous but the rule is in place so that the bigger nations still have time to snag a player if he turns out to be any good. Rice one example.
"Manchester City are in an "emergency" with just "14 or 15" senior players for Wednesday's Premier League trip to Aston Villa, says boss Pep Guardiola."
I see an emergency for them is pretty standard for us
Let's hope their emergency last another 10 days. Mind you, I can't help thinking that they would have to be down to about 6 senior players to even things up.

We will pick up a few but yeah, this is why I haven't put any weight in our being sixth, we are not sixth best by any stretch of the imagination so far this season.
True Cinci, but as you say we may well pick up a few points from the above matches. To be honest we are just as likely to pick up half a dozen points from them as against Burnley, Brighton, Watford, Southampton and Brentford which are the other 5 games in the next 10.
My personal opinion is we are about to go on a poor run and I wouldn't be hugely surprised if we win no more than 2 of our next ten.

George is 35 now and still doing coaching at Maidstone. But seems to be turning his hands towards motivational speaking which I would imagine he’d be quite good at
Congratulations to England women who won their tricky looking World Cup qualifier against Latvia tonight. They had 86% of the possession and won the shot count by 51-0. Final score in the game was England 20 Latvia 0 and four England players scored hat tricks. Latvia did get a yellow card and that was the only stat that they outscored England

We've also got Burnley, Watford and Brighton among those eight. Knowing us we'll probably pick up more points from the other five games.

Don't think that result does a lot for the credibility of the women's game to be honest.

It had some?
Republic of Ireland women only win 11-0 against Georgia and Spain women beat Scotland 8-0.
I think the women's game has its place when you've got teams who are capable of competing with each other, some of the games in the last world Cup were watchable. Its never going to be as fast or physical as the men's game.

All jokes aside, the problem the women's game has is that it is being pushed onto us(or at least in the uk) as if it is on an equal footing.
Oh yeah fully agree with that. "And alongside Gary tonight is five times FA Cup winner Karen Smith". No she didn't win the FA Cup five times, she won the women's FA Cup five times in front of an aggregate crowd of 667 at a variety of non league grounds just outside London. .
Don't get me wrong there are some good female commentators and pundits around and I absolutely applaud that but don't make them or to be something they aren't.
Lovely to see that Newcastle failed to win their most winnable game yet tonight, fought well though to be fair with 10 men for 80 minutes. Absolute thunderbastard of a goal from Pukki to equalise.

Ticking the diversity box instead of the quality box it seems in recent years. Soccer Saturday dying a death I was told, can't have middle aged white men anymore. Question of sport seemed the same.
