Dendonker and Moutinho did well and the defence was hardly troubled. Our Achilles heel, is still the lack of goals. Thought Hwang was the best attacker today and didn't really deserve to come off.
Not quite sure about Hwang. Thought he was going to be the answer, but now, he needs to do a bit more.
Thought Hwang did pretty well today but still not sure he is comfortable in that position.
Donk and Moutinho, meh. Steady enough but bring nothing to the table in a forward sense really in games like this. And those feckin short corners, somebody shoot me ffs.
Also, it irritates me that Bruno doesn't go to the bench earlier but when you look at the bench, especially today then it is quite easy to understand. It truly is pitiful.
Agree, but I think I would have given Fabio a chance for 15 minutes, really not sure about Trincao
Unfortunately we just don't have many options to even change the system. Two up front may have helped toward the end but Podence is probably the one best suited to sit behind two forwards. No options to change it up in midfield even if we wanted to, though maybe Bruno could be braver and give Cundle a go for the final twenty. It is a dead season so nothing to lose.
Nothing in midfield, powder puff up front.
However we played some good stuff and really should have won.
Agree about the ref, for his first game he put some of the others to shame.
Stick to my, we need a defender, a midfielder and a forward.
Midfielder, forward and defender in that order for me.
We just kept doing the same thing even when it was obvious we weren't going to be able to play through them. Needed a spark which to be fair to him Adama nearly brought but ffs just place it, trying to bust the net everytime just ain't working.
Crowd was pretty flat even Bruno had to do some cheer leading at one point to wake everyone up. You couldn't say anyone had a poor game they all kept at it but we needed more options, Neto or Podence could maybe have brought something but we need something else against these teams, a Jota type that's going to take the game to them. Our best moments came when Raul tried that and got behind them but that leaves the space in the middle empty.
On a more positive note Kilman was outstanding again, kept Wood in his pocket and managed to get the 9.42 train, home just after 10
One thing about the next few games at least we'll be playing sides that will want to compete and we'll be looking to win, keeping it tight at the back won't as easy as we've found it recently but we'll definitely get better chances to score in those games.

Why was Kilman catching the train?
Burnley did a job on us tonight. They are the league’s experts in stifling the game and succeeded for large parts this evening. Not a game that will stick in the memory for sure.
Don’t think we played that poorly and dominated large sections of the second half. But we didn’t create any clear openings. Traore unlucky not to either score or brake the cross bar in the first half and caused Burnley problems when he ran with the ball but really don’t think the tucked in role suits him and he would have been better wide. Hwang had some good moments but does give the ball away a lot. Ait Nouri had lots of opportunities to get forward but I don’t think he knocked a decent ball in all night. Dendoncker and Moutinho both did ok but never looked like creating anything. And Jimenez is looking frustrated lately with nobody linking with him effectively.
Defence did well again but we did miss Neves badly, and it is a problem having so few options from the bench
RAN put in a few good crosses, maybe not enough but he certainly put in a few. As for Traore being unlucky, i just don't get that, poor decision making isn't unlucky, no matter how hard he hit the crossbar. He had a very easy pass to Raul and we likely win that game. When people see that again they will marvel at just how much time and space he had and hoe much space Raul had to run into.
He'd have over hit the pass for a goal kick, you know that cinci

Have to say that one of the highlights today was seeing Kilman in the last 20 or so minutes getting forward to try and influence the game and really leading the charge.
I think the chance that Traore hit the bar with sums him up. If he had passed to Jimenez, it is very likely we score. If it were Podence, Hwang, Neto, Trincao or even Fabio in that position, they all pass and we likely score.
Traore decides to keep going which gives us a lower percentage change with a narrower angle. Then rather than go for the far post with a shot, he tries to take the net off.
He always looks good and is exciting, but it never actually comes to anything. I'm sure we'll all be told that it's not about stats (even though football is all about stats) and he is unlucky, but he has been unlucky for a long time now and there has to come a point where you question whether that is ever going to change here.
One simple step I would take on Jan 1st that would improve the squad overnight is to recall Giles, MGW and Sanderson from their loans. All have been outstanding on loan in the championship so it wouldn’t be a massive step up for them to have a role to play in the premier league, at the very least to give us a stronger bench, and maybe force their way into the team
Can’t go along with singling out Traore for criticism for us not scoring last night. Fact is he picked up the ball on the halfway line and came within two inches of scoring.
We can’t of course criticise Jimenez, Hwang, Trincao, Ait Nouri, Semedo, Dendoncker or Moutinho for opportunities they missed because none of them came close to scoring throughout the 90 minutes.

He is quite simply the most frustrating player I have ever seen in a Wolves shirt. He is capable of getting more people off their seats than a Mexican Wave, but rarely any end product.
His first touch last night was terrible, at times it's like 2 magnets colliding.
I think we can probably criticise those players for not doing what their manager told them to do after Norwich and be more aggressive in front of goal, take more risks and be less predictable.

yeah I agree that those three would add a certain amount of strength to the squad.. we do have decent attacking options from the bench but absolutely no options to bring in any defensive enforcements if we need to shut up shop at any time
Marcal tested positive for covid reducing our squad numbers even more
Blindingly obvious what Wolves need to improve on in the second half of the season which is to find more goals. Only two teams in the Premier League have conceded less than us. Only two teams in the league have scored less than us. Not what we expected when the new manager came in with a reputation for attacking football.
We have quite a choice of attacking players in Jimenez, Hwang, Traore, Podence, Trincao and hopefully soon Neto. But the reality is that group aren’t scoring many. So is it a matter of who we are selecting, how we are set up, do the midfield and wing backs create enough, or is it a problem that needs to be solved in the transfer window?
