"Masi choose drama and spectacle for a record breaking viewing over sporting integrity.""
This is where I somewhat take issue
Does teams constantly trying to sneak things past the FIA and circumnavigate the technical regulations, constitute sporting integrity being upheld....or is it simply blatant cheating?
It's like footballers diving to try and win a penalty...it's sneaky as fook and when they con the ref with it, you have to call it what it is...blatant cheating
So I do find it ironic that when the FIA do it themselves, and use a loophole to circumnavigate the sporting regulations, in order to give a bit of last minute drama and an attempt to let.one of their biggest seasons ever be decided on the track.....oh it's corrupt as hell and pure cheating
Why is it any different to what the teams do....constantly??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a ridiculous way of looking at it. So its ok because footballers dive? Cheating is cheating. These acts all go against sportsmanship. Sports is about the best man/team winning not making more money, or at least it should be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't say it was ok
Basically saying....perhaps the FIA have decided to make a point, by acting in the same way as the teams.
It's them who are constantly having to deal with the teams getting up to all sorts of underhanded stuff...every season
If it's not flexing rear wings, it's teams basically copying other cars or the McLaren-Ferrari stuff
It's constant
Basically saying....perhaps the FIA have decided to make a point, by acting in the same way as the teams.
====
Basically admitting that they fixed the race.
..and another point
Toto begging Masi not to deploy a safety car during the race yesterday as it would impact his driver
What the race director decides to do in such situations has absolutely nothing to do with Toto or any team principal
Also got Masi having to take flack from both Horner and Toto during the safety car at the end
Let the man do his job ffs

No....I'm saying they made a decision to exploit a loophole in the sporting regulations because it was in their interests to have an on track finish to the race.....and the teams would have to deal with that decision
Same way the FIA have to deal with numerous teams exploiting loopholes in the technical regulations, because it's in their interest to try and gain some on track advantages

Its a sport. The moment their interest comes into play then fairness goes out the window. Only interest should be fair sportsmanship regardless of how it ends.
If that's what happened then they facked up and it cost Hamilton the championship. Completely unfair.
Presumably all of the Hamilton fanboys would be fine with retroactively changing the 2008 Championship to not include the rigged Singapore Grand Prix that cost Massa the title?
https://mobile.twitter.com/vincenzolandino/status/1470500897599938567
The sport lost if this decision stands. Never seen anything like it in over 23 years watching F1. Even the drivers were saying the same thing and then what was worse was Max got a free run at Lewis with no one behind to make it look like race fixing scandal. Also look how late and quickly Masi completely changed his mind and he said to the likes of Sainz and Ricciardo, you don’t deserve a fair race as I decide.
I would have been saying the same thing if Hamilton won it like that.
Some of the coverage is getting over the top now. Any other race and it would have been all forgotten about an hour after the race.
Mercedes would have won the race if they pitted Hamilton and put brand spanking new tyres on him instead, they chose to defend the position and he lost. He almost overtook Max at the end with ancient Hard tyres on.
Well this is the first time in the history of F1 this was allowed to happen against the rules.
Why can’t people see that if Hamilton had swapped tyres, then Max would have stayed out and gained track position, meaning Hamilton would have had to overtake on track (if Masi had decided the safety car was ending) and no way in hell would Max let himself be overtaken, by putting Hamilton out.
A DNF would have meant Max wins the title

This annoys me
What's makes you think Masi would have acted differently if Hamilton was in Verstappens position?
Also...everytime it's mentioned that Mercedes strategy could have been different...this line that Verstappen would not have let him pass gets dragged out, time and time again
If Verstappen took Hamilton our in that situation, then he likely would have lost the title given what Masi reiterated before the race
Boils my blood this notion that the only way Verstappen could possibly have won yesterday, was through some form of dirty tactics....bullshit
Sainz had new tyres the same as Verstappen but Verstappen was allowed to overtake the backmarkers lol. You would think a child was running the sport. Whatever happens this title was Lewis Hamilton and the FIA awarded it to Max. Remember Brazil and Monza Max got away with stuff no other driver can get away with and even on same race in Brazil Tsunoda got a penalty for a late lunge on first corner when he stayed on the track hitting the apex yet Max behind Lewis lunges off the track by a few metres and keeps the position and no penalty.
I wonder if Masi was paid off by Red Bull as Masi changed his mind straight after Horner contacted him. He completely forgot about Sainz in doing so.
Please tell me how many times Max actually won a race this season and got an advantage over Lewis through his “aggressive” or “dirty” driving?
Bahrain…went for it too early, overtook off track, had to give place back, cost him the win
Monza….both DNF
Brazil…..constantly gets brought up, yet he lost that race to Hamilton anyway
Saudi Arabia…..again, was too aggressive, over took off track, got a 5 second time penalty, had to give place back, and got further penalised for the brake test incident….lost the race to Hamilton
At no point, did Verstappens overly aggressive driving or off track overtaking manouevres….actually benefit him.
Hamilton however
Silverstone…..copse, deemed at fault, but won the race
Hamilton lost 25 points in Monza as Max on outside drove over sausage kerb onto the top of Hamilton Halo and if there was no Halo then Hamilton would have been lucky to race ever again.
Also I have no idea how Lewis got a 10 second penalty in Silverstone. The corner before Max lunged from miles back on the inside and made sure if Hamilton turns he gets t-boned yet next straight Hamilton going way faster is squuezed and then Max takes it like there is no car on the right. Funnily enough that was the corner Hamilton overtaked most of the cars he did in the race including for the race win from far worse positions but as Max just drove into Hamilton Hamilton got the penalty.
Thats like saying to someone I am driving in the dual carriageway slower in the left hand land but there is a car on the right hand lane alongside and going faster. If that is Max he will fully steer right into the car and expect the other driver to emergency brake or crash and go right lol.
Brazil he should have lost more points than he did.
Max was behind Lewis, completely outbraked himself went completely off the track and was allowed to keep the lead. Bottas would have finished ahead if a penalty was applied and every other driver who did that would have got a penalty but as Lewis had to drive like 6 metres off the track to not DNF it is fine.
So this season Max is allowed to t-bone cars out the way but as long as Lewis backs out or jumps out the way like he did for most of the season there is no penalty but if Lewis like in Silverstone has inside line and more momentum and stays on track but the driver on the outside collides Lewis gets the penalty. So why didn’t Verstappen get a penalty in Silverstone for lunging from miles behind. That was far worse than what Lewis did but as Lewis avoided the crash Max got no penalty.
Hamilton was deemed at fault for not taking the racing line when he qas squeezed all the way right by Max and Lewis was going way faster yet Lewis still made the corner. According to the rules Lewis should never have got a penalty.
So in Silverstone the stewards basically said the driver on outside going slower is allowed to fully send it and if driver on the inside with more momentum doesn’t emergency stop then he will get a 10 second penalty.
It cracked me up when they said Brazil was hard racing. Verstappen tried to t-bone Hamilton out the way and only reason it didn’t work was due to him driving so far off the track. Hamilton was clearly gonna make the corner easily until Verstappen released the brakes and off the track.
That was far worse than what Lewis did in Silverstone and yet in Silverstone Hamilton gets a 10 seconds penalty for staying on the track on the inside with more momentum while Max in Brazil he was inside with no monentum and drove off the track to keep ahead and get no penalty.
Every driver pretty much said Max should have got a penalty.
Monza Hamilton lost 25 points due to Max raging at Red Bull pit stop and going over sausage kerbs on top of Hamilton.
It was deliberate.
Verstappen is the only driver you race that if you don’t go off the track you are getting taken out. He will lunge from 20 metres back if the inside is there and if you don’t back out you will get crashed.
Verstappen is quite clever though, all season he used same method on Hamilton, if Hamilton tries to make a turn he will DNF so Hamilton has to back out. Even the last race he did the same thing fully sent it.
It was funny in the whole Brazil race the only time Max went wide in that corner was when he completely outbraked himself and missed the corner and went metres off the track was when hamilton was going to overtake him.
Biggest cheat to win the championship. The FIA had a different rule for him all season.
It was funny Tsunoda got a penalty for hugging the inside kerb in Brazil first corner because he did a lunge but Max is allowed to lunge from behind go completely off the track and regain position he lost as Hamilton is forced to go on outside of the track.
So the FIA basically said you are allowed to use your car as a weapon to Verstappen and we give no penalties if Hamilton avoids it. That ain’t F1 racing.
I could bathe in these tears. Glorious.
Max Verstappen - 2021 World Driver Champion.
Lewis Hamilton - three time failure in the fastest car.
