Biggest joke was that there wasn't a higher percentage needed to make it happen. 51% isn't an overwhelming majority and is barely a majority at all when implementing something so important.

You can't do that in a vote by the masses. Why should someone who wants to remain have more power than someone who wants to leave? That wouldn't have been right and especially as we never voted to join the EU in the first place.

This argument is silly. So what should the cut off be? 60%? 70%?
You can't move the goalposts just because you lost.

I suspect you wouldn't have been happy if it was weighted the other way and the leave vote only required 40% for it to happen.

No, they really shouldn’t!
There was much debate about the definition of: “democracy” during the Brexit campaign. The real point of democracy is that it is dynamic and changes with time. That’s why we have an election every five years - and that’s why EU membership will always be an issue for debate.
The problem for Remoaners - and I happy to call myself one - is that the vast majority of the arguments for Brexit were so intellectually barren that it is difficult to move on. I don’t mean to insult people who have an alternative point of that point as I’ve long waited for someone to give me a persuasive argument to the contrary. Even on this thread people have asked for facts, but been given hackneyed and stereotyped phrases in response.
I truly believe that ardent leave supporters have been patronised and insulted by remain supporters. I don’t condone that behaviour, but it’s not a reason to vote for something else. Voting for something because you feel patronised and marginalised rather than because you can make an articulate an intelligent case for that position. Well, isn’t that just playing into the stereotype of being a bit dense?
A decision to make a huge change to the nations should always need a weighted majority. It was completely negligent to give people a binary choice requiring only a 0.1% majority on such a complex issue.
It makes most sense, and why many countries needing a big majority to make such big decisions. Making decisions of this gravity on such a marginal basis is reeetarded. It was reeetarded to have the referendum in the first place, to be fair.
