If only there was some way to watch musicians perform without having to wade through 2hrs of adverts and ‘sport’...

No Fridgeboy, totally disagree with your point of view. American Football/NFL is a great sport.
If it doesn’t float yer boat so be it.
The Super Bowl has always been been an Event, that keeps on growing. It’s the Final, and they go all out to do something memorable. The Super Bowl game is the end of an amazing week of build up. Remember build ups, like the one people miss about the FA Cup?

and if you’re one of the lucky ones to get a ticket, the whole weekend is one big party. The NFL is always innovating, that why it’s one of the most exciting sports around.
Most sports get left behind in the NFLs presentation. Now you seeing, Barca with their 8k camera. The 3D 360 replay matrix style to name a couple.

Boring? Nah, We witnessed probably the greatest Playoff season in the history of the game.
Once you understand the mechanics of the game, the games ‘stop/start’ nature becomes an afterthought, and the game flys by. It’s a game of violent Chess.

Help me understand it then. What did these two teams do to get to this 'final'? I can see why you'd make the comparison with the FA Cup build up but I think when the build up / entertainment supersedes the game itself in terms of importance and next day headlines it's kind of odd.

Any sport can probably be entertaining once you get into it. My issue with the Superbowl is how commercialized it is really.

Worst part this year was the teams owner being given the trophy first, says a lot about a sport when that happens

Exactly.

Never really watched more than 5 mins of it, don't really get it and have more than enough sports to follow here anyway.

I don't think the fans in the US are as tribal or care as much about their teams as we do and it's more about the event than the result. Don't they move teams from city to city if they're not doing well financially?

Could you imagine if they did the equivalent of a half time show in the FA cup final? Would be a good tactic to fill up the bars.

The half time show was incredible to be fair. Was like my teenage music all rolled into one, absolutely epic that was. Dr Dre, Snoop, Eminem, 50Cent. Wow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed mate..... I thought it was brilliant, though it made me feel Old when my kids had no idea who any of those guys/MJB were.... Dre might be old but he crushed it.... still cool as shlt
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s one of the best music producers on the planet mate Dr Dre. He is an absolute legend.

How long is the half time show? The part I like about football is that it's only 15 minutes. Any longer than that it can cause injury to players if they don't warm up again when they go back out. That puts the sport at the top in terms of hierarchy which is where it should be. Judging by the reports, the Superbowl half time has to be longer to fit the acts in.

Just need something more attuned to British tastes, like Sticky Vicky for instance - then it would be great

Not a sport I follow but there are many also I don't and don't hate them..I can tolerate it and watched bits of it..however but not sure I can sit through a whole couple of hours but its definitely not boring.
Its basically Rugby with protection!

The half time show though..Took me back. Nostalgic.Loved it.

I think I read that Spurs want a Superbowl in the future. Not sure I agree, given that the majority of fans will have to find the money to not only watch the game but fly over as well.

I stuck it on the planner purely for the half time show which I shall watch later. As a Jets fan Superbowls are of little interest to me.

For my money the best Gangster rap/Hip Hop album by a country mile is 2001 by Dre so I'm bang up for it. Also the PC brigade will hate the subject matter in the lyrics which also pleases me.

Remember when we had cheerleaders in the early days of the EPL.
dancing girls on a rainy night in Sheffield didn't really work!

Can't see any downside with cheerleaders TBH

The NFL made an apology because Eminem took the knee. Fook America and the NFL. Shiiite sport for fat people.

Great to see Dre, Mary J Blige, Snoop and Eminem on the same stage. Fiddy too. Hip hop forever.

Given where English football is right now, you'd probably spit and throw bottles at them

I am no fan but people misunderstand the mix of sport, event, family and friends. Imagine the WC final was on Xmas day and it makes a bit more sense.

I dunno if there were violent actions at the WM open but Ive been on the 16th on the final day and its insane... Beers go everywhere when someone hits a great shot.. Players and fans LOVE it... Its part of their marketing and nice break from the norm... Bit like the 1st tee at the Ryder cup.... Obviously hope nobody was throwing bottles at individuals.. thats out of order
