Yes I do love the draft system. In 5 years we know City, Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea will be fighting or in Utd's case, should be fighting for the title, whereas in the NFL, who know's. The Chiefs and a few others should be but even Detroit could be good with some decent draft picks!

American Football is a good watch once you get into it. Also like their draft system from college. This way, teams that were poor (Bengals) can then challenge. Makes it more interesting than having the same teams challenge for the EPL
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The draft system seems such a socialist idea for an American big money sport. Was pretty fun on football manager to play MLS where they had the same system.
Trading your draft picks instead of spending money. Here it could mean Norwich getting the next Rooney or whoever. Kinda sucks for the player I guess!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But Norwich could be kings of England with a good draft!
New England were half decent when Brady arrived and they're now one of or if not the most decorated team in NFL history.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Brady was once in lifetime pick.. selected 188 I think.... a total fluke, he was a nobody coming out of Michigan... What he and Bill Bellichek were able to achieve is unprecidented & won't be repeated. The draft system is brilliant for the Pros, less so for the College game as all the best talent goes to the big teams in SEC...... Football could learn a lot from the NFL in terms of the draft and a salary cap. Its sad that European football has resorted to stupid tribalism, volience, antisocial behavior among fans because the product on the field outside of the Likes of City, Liverpool, Inter & Bayern is pretty shlte. American sports are far from perfect but if you care about winning (Thats NOT Coming 4th) then they do their best for everyone to have a chance
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aside from the multitude of teams tanking for better draft picks, it's a pretty shiiite produce for the fans of those teams.
Also you say Brady was a one off, there's a young lad at KC trying to prove you wrong...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mahomes is great but he has a long way to go and that KC team has probably peaked.. will be interesting to see what they do in the next couple of years

Baseball, like cricket, is something to have on in the background. It's a really relaxing summer sport to watch.
Baseball is more interesting, that's my opinion as it's just a showcase of athletes displaying skills pretty much at the limit of human capability - the human arm cannot throw a baseball more than 106mph without tendons snapping, fastest recorded pitch is 105.6mph.
At 90mph, it takes 400ms for the ball to reach home plate, it takes 200ms for your brain to recognise it's been thrown then you have to make the decision as to whether or not to swing, then actually swing the bat.
If you do hit it you can only hit it within 90 degrees, and there are 8 players out there to field it.
It's quite incredible how talented baseball players are. Hitting a home run is about the hardest thing to do in sport.

You could have all the padding you want on, you'd still be snapped in two by an NFL linebacker. They'd murder you.
I like American Football. It's fun and a real all-day event, much more family orientated from the one game I went to in the states. The season is only 17 games (plus playoffs) so the games are naturally more of an event.
I don't really follow it more because it's difficult to do so, plus there's more than enough EPL on to keep me happy. If I lived in the US though I'd be a football fan. Went to a baseball game once and it was dull as hell, close to zero atmosphere.
I'm also more tolerant of the US glitz tbh. It's their showcase game and when Americans do a showcase they go way over the top.
The irony being, presumably Yanks think American Football is a difficult sport to understand.
It’s dumb, it’s boring, it’s over commercialised.

Oh are they kicking off. Not been following with NFL dominating news.
I hear there was a record 117million viewers... yeah I know right
All to watch two teams with about 80 players a side, all togged up in Ironman suits running into each other at an alarming rate
The ball is in play for about 8% of the entire match, & funny little fat men in striped shirts throw cloths about for reasons best known to themselves
Two billion chickens are murdered just for their wings in one day (what do they do with the rest of the carcass)
And if Levy get's his way Spurs will be hosting it next year
All in the name of entertainment
I don't follow baseball but the issue I'd have (aside from the total lack of game atmosphere) is the sheer number of games.
I just looked it up, current champs Atlanta won 88 games and lost 73 in the regular season.
It's almost like its a sporting soap opera, how can you get excited for over 150 games a season and even the best teams lose so often. Think I would struggle to care about the outcome of games.

----------------------------------------------------------------------Each team plays 162 games a season. During the summer they basically play every day.
It's not that dissimilar to test cricket, you get a 3 / 4 game series between teams rather than a 5 day test match.
And that's what's great about baseball, not everything needs to be the testosterone filled, emotional rollercoaster than football is.
Somethings are just nice to watch without all that. You lose, it just doesn't feel as bad as football and I think that's a good thing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not a difficult sport to understand. Very simple objective. Now how you get there, and understanding that, might take a while.. understanding routes and play calls. An example is the West Coast offence, a QB might call ‘Scatter to West Right Tight F Left 372 Y Stick Z Spot’.. one of many tactical plays they have in their book.. we don’t need to know that code talk.
but sure, if you just focus on the general game itself, you’ll be fine
Dumb? Boring? You just don’t have the appreciation for it. The athletes on display. The skill level. The mentality it takes to play that game. The Heart.

A team has a rotation of pitchers that start, usually five main guys on a five day rotation. The wins come with the best pitcher the losses to the worst is a loose way of looking at it. In footy terms its like playing with Messi on day one and with timo werner on day five.

Pretty simplistic way of looking a very complicated sport...
I really like it but wouldn’t want it for British sport. It serves its own purpose but the lack of relegation/promotion and how franchises just leave really undermines the sport(s) in America

I suppose it's due to baseball but I'm always surprised it's never taken off in the US, would be perfect for commercials and broadcasters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
See all of the moaning about American sport on this thread?
That's why rugby and cricket will never take off there, they think our sports are just a shiiiiit as theirs.
Also baseball is a much better sport for broadcasters and frankly more interesting than cricket.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In your opinion it's more interesting, never been able to get into it despite trying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Baseball, like cricket, is something to have on in the background.

Rugby with helmets and half time shows on steroids, love by fat obnoxious Americans.

Sure I've read before on average the ball is ever actually only in play for 12 minutes during an NFL game.

Yeah Baseball is actually a very interesting sport when you understand it all. They will be all coming here to Phoenix this month for spring games in the perma sun.

Probably not as it stands because of the biggest flaw BY A MILE in American Sports and that's the collective bargaining agreement between the players union and the league.
I'd be surprised if we had a season at all this year.

I find that with basketball. I really like the sort, but it's an 82 games season, followed by best if seven game series in the playoffs. Its too much for me to follow it all.

I really like it but wouldn’t want it for British sport. It serves its own purpose but the lack of relegation/promotion and how franchises just leave really undermines the sport(s) in America
