No Fridgeboy, totally disagree with your point of view. American Football/NFL is a great sport.
If it doesn’t float yer boat so be it.
The Super Bowl has always been been an Event, that keeps on growing. It’s the Final, and they go all out to do something memorable. The Super Bowl game is the end of an amazing week of build up. Remember build ups, like the one people miss about the FA Cup?
and if you’re one of the lucky ones to get a ticket, the whole weekend is one big party. The NFL is always innovating, that why it’s one of the most exciting sports around.
Most sports get left behind in the NFLs presentation. Now you seeing, Barca with their 8k camera. The 3D 360 replay matrix style to name a couple.
Boring? Nah, We witnessed probably the greatest Playoff season in the history of the game.
Once you understand the mechanics of the game, the games ‘stop/start’ nature becomes an afterthought, and the game flys by. It’s a game of violent Chess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Help me understand it then. What did these two teams do to get to this 'final'? I can see why you'd make the comparison with the FA Cup build up but I think when the build up / entertainment supersedes the game itself in terms of importance and next day headlines it's kind of odd.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, hope i explain clearly. Here goes…
The NFL is made up of 32 teams. There are 2 conferences, The AFC and the NFC. 16 teams in each.
Within the Conferences are 4 Divisions. East, West, South, and North. This is a location based thing, e.g.
AFC East - Miami - NY Jets - New England - Buffalo
In a regular season, all teams play 17 games.
The top 7 teams in each Conference go into the Playoffs. And they get ranked according to their record.
The AFC & NFC teams play a knockout tournament.
Then you will be left with 2 teams, one representing the AFC and one representing the NFC.
And they face off in the Super Bowl.
One thing that has changed (not sure when) is that they now have the pro bowl before the Superbowl. Doesn't make sense to me!

ProBowl is such a waste of time.. nobody cares (Players in it, or fans) just something to fill in the empty weekend in the 2 weeks between championship games and the SB
The build up side to it, just adds to the excitement of the game itself. The history that comes with it.
The game itself, is so exciting, and I’m even amazed how it keeps getting better.

I agree regarding the pro bowl. I like the idea of picking the best teams from their respective conferences but not the actual game.
I really could not care less about the Superbowl. It's basically a musical concert masquerading as a sports event. Wish they would stop trying to force American football on us.

Ok now, that I can’t defend. The Pro Bowl game itself is an absolute waste of time, and this is blatantly a cash grab. And has gotten worse and worse.
This is what Lukaku wanted for football, have South play North. An exhibition match could work, but it would be no point, when you want the game to mean something.

People saying American Football is not a good sport are just ignorant. The playoff games this year were some of the most exciting sport I've seen in a long long time, especially the round before the conference finals which I was watching with a load of Americans on holiday. Last time I got that much energy from sport was Liverpool v Borussia Dortmund with the Lovren header.

American Football is a good watch once you get into it. Also like their draft system from college. This way, teams that were poor (Bengals) can then challenge. Makes it more interesting than having the same teams challenge for the EPL
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The draft system seems such a socialist idea for an American big money sport. Was pretty fun on football manager to play MLS where they had the same system.
Trading your draft picks instead of spending money. Here it could mean Norwich getting the next Rooney or whoever. Kinda sucks for the player I guess!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But Norwich could be kings of England with a good draft!
New England were half decent when Brady arrived and they're now one of or if not the most decorated team in NFL history.

Brady was once in lifetime pick.. selected 188 I think.... a total fluke, he was a nobody coming out of Michigan... What he and Bill Bellichek were able to achieve is unprecidented & won't be repeated. The draft system is brilliant for the Pros, less so for the College game as all the best talent goes to the big teams in SEC...... Football could learn a lot from the NFL in terms of the draft and a salary cap. Its sad that European football has resorted to stupid tribalism, volience, antisocial behavior among fans because the product on the field outside of the Likes of City, Liverpool, Inter & Bayern is pretty shlte. American sports are far from perfect but if you care about winning (Thats NOT Coming 4th) then they do their best for everyone to have a chance

Yes I do love the draft system. In 5 years we know City, Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea will be fighting or in Utd's case, should be fighting for the title, whereas in the NFL, who know's. The Chiefs and a few others should be but even Detroit could be good with some decent draft picks!

Aside from the multitude of teams tanking for better draft picks, it's a pretty shiiite produce for the fans of those teams.
Also you say Brady was a one off, there's a young lad at KC trying to prove you wrong...

enjoy the coverage.. but then I like NFL a lot.... fastest growing sport in the UK no? if so I am not surprised at the widespread coverage.
Was in Miami for the 2020 one, and that was a quality weekend

American Football is a good watch once you get into it. Also like their draft system from college. This way, teams that were poor (Bengals) can then challenge. Makes it more interesting than having the same teams challenge for the EPL

The draft system really is not as cut and dry as that.
