Van Persie better technically, Drogba had the better career.
Neither are Prem greats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Drogba is most certainly a prem great imo. Won it all whilst playing in the prem for the most dominant team with Utd. What did he get in the end? 3 prems? A golden boot and more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can have your opinion Nick but how many greats do you want because I wouldn't even have him top ten.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why can't there be more than 10 greats though? I mean if the PL carries on for another 50 years, are we saying there can never be any more than 10 greats?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are allowed one new great for each position every 3 years.

And if we do many more will surpass Drogba I'd have thought.
Put it this way, if we were asked to pick the two greatest sides in Prem history from any players how many would pick Drogba. I'd hazard a guess none. What about three teams? Nope, not for me.
I mean set the bar as low as you want but he's not even in the conversation with players like Henry, Shearer, Rooney and personally I'd have the likes of Salah and Suarez ahead of him to.
Yes, he was in a very good side that was exceptionally well funded but he's Torres level at best.

He wasn’t a prolific goal scorer but neither was Bergkamp and most wouldn’t argue against him being a PL great
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bergkamp wasn't an out and out striker though. He was known more for his mercurial playmaking abilities.
Torres was better than Drogba at his best. Even crap Chelsea Torres often benched Drogba.
Bergkamp was an overrated streak of pu*syole pi*s
Drogba is a player whose greatness outstripped his footballing quality. He had so many major contributions in crunch games, and that's what elevates him into the conversation for me, a heavily biased Chelsea fan

I guess what I'm saying if it's up for debate then they're not a great.
So like no one is going to debate whether Aguero is a Prem great are they? Nor Lampard, nor Terry, nor Cech. They just are.
Drogba is hugely up for debate because he scored less Prem goals than Dion Dublin.
Yaya Toure in a big game>Didier Drogba
Drogba is more the kind of guy who wins SPOTY as his charisma and off-field presence is epic. Not really backed up with goal scoring seasons, mind.
FWIW if the conversation was who is the greatest moments in cups striker Drogba would be near. if not at the, top.

Depends on what you view a '"great" as I guess. But there are obviously greats who are varying degrees of quality too, same as the world class players. Kane is world class in my eyes, but so were/have been Messi and Ronaldo, and they are way above Kane.
Yeah I do tend to put that kind of var higher than most it seems. But we're talking great, not really very good.
Are Fowler and Owen greats? Arguably but I wouldn't say so.
Don’t think it was stated what the rules were for this comparison. So big game performances definitely comes into it.
