Neither prolific goalscorers in the PL. I know Van Persie only scored more than 12 goals twice in his PL career. D
===
RvP had a 1 in 2 PL goal rate (96 in 194) for Arsenal (first few seasons as a kid breaking through as well, so not many starts.)
At United it was better than 1 in 2 (48 in 86)
7 seasons he hit double figures in the PL, including a run of seasons of 9 in 16, 18 in 25, 30 in 38, 26 in 38, 12 in 21 and 10 in 27.
Prolific he most definitely was - fit he most definitely wasn't for most of it.
Drogba was close to 1 in 2.5 games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said he only scored over 12 goals twice in the PL. Certainly not prolific for a striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
3 times.
How is better than 1 in 2 over his PL career not prolific?
He averaged a goal every 140 minutes of game time, and it's not like he played a handful of games - that is 280 games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
3 times is it? I was going by memory.
Yes I'm not saying he doesn't have a great record considering the amount of injuries he had, I'm saying he's rated as if he had a great record full stop, which he didn't considering he only scored over 12 goals three times in the PL. He must have played over ten seasons. That's not a great record, which of course is a lot to do with injuries but he had the injuries.
Didn’t he have malaria once? I know he used to miss a lot of games because of afcon and being dropped for poor form, was just surprised it was more than RVP given how much of crock he was.
I think the remarkable thing about RVP was that he could have some time on the sideline and come back in and play incredibly well from the off. To have his scoring record when constantly dealing with injuries is pretty remarkable, as he never had to play himself back into form. Aguero was the same.
huge amount of assists for Drogba as well

That is impressive, though it may have helped that they both played in very creative teams.
I remember RVP being quite injured earlier in his career but during his peak he stayed pretty fit. I mean he had 2 seasons on the trot of playing in all 38 league games.
Ive said it before, but it's a shame we never saw fabregas and van persie play together much. Some of the goals they combined for were so good.

Got away from the Arsenal physio team and magically healed
Nah he became a crock again after Fergie left.

Somehow one of those seasons happened to be at Arsenal. He managed to escape the clutches of the Arsenal physios. If he'd been young and English however, it would've been a different story.
Good point. Not really sure what happened, maybe he just willed it into existence till he won that title then went back to not caring.
I’d still have mane over salah. Salah is effective of course. But the way Liverpool played completely caters to getting him the ball quickly and isolated on the full back as quickly as possible. Still think mane has more to his game and if took the pens they’d probably have similar output. Salah is fantastic don’t get me wrong but think he’s a lot of kick and rush. Much prefer mane, drogba, yaya.
Between Van Persie getting on the pitch and Drogba staying on his feet...this is really not an easy choice.
Comes down to what you prefer from your striker

Na they’re better than that but they play high energy, high transition football and try and get salah and mane isolated early and with quick balls into them. Taa and Robertson push up as quick as possible to do this to great effect.

Salah’s more comparable to Henry than Drogba.
Drogba was a terror in big games (especially against us), but player for player RVP is miles better. Technically they're not even in the same league.
