And now people are gonna be joking about the Smiths for sooooooo much longer than if he'd have just ignored it. Already so many memes doing the outings and loads of speculation about their relationship too.
Just a really dumb thing to do.

Some of the memes are amazing. That one I posted with Harry Maguire’s face over Chris Rock’s is my favourite.

Is it only a crime if a complaint is then made?
Seems weird…I’m sure there are plenty of situations where the authorities would automatically get involved…without any complaint being made
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Generally speaking, a crime against a personal individual requires the cooperation of the victi to persue. A crime against society or the environment etc would not require any particular person's cooperation.
Sometimes prosecutors come up with inventive ways to argue that a crime is the latter, so they can act on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, someone walking along a street at midnight is involved in a hit and run - and killed, no witnesses but is caught on CCTV
Will the police be waiting for a complaint to turn up or will they just not bother getting involved?

Clearly wasn’t staged as Smith misinterpreted the intent of the joke. Watching the whole bit, the primary point of it is the rubbishness of a GI Jane movie would mean a sequel would have no chance of potentially being nominated for an Oscar, it wasn’t just a throwaway comment primarily about appearance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you're reading a little too far into the joke there.
Whatever the intent of the joke though, Smith gave the worst reaction he could have made to it. He could have just booed or signalled a thumbs down if he wasn't happy. Ironically he made Chris Rock look better out of the ordeal as a result, and himself look worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s literally the whole point of that bit! The pay off joke is that Jada Pinkett Smith will be starring in rubbish films just in case.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But it obviously references the shaved hair, else you could just name any sequel to a crappy film with a female lead.

I don't think the joke was about a GI Jane movie being too sh-t to win an Oscar. It's just a sh-t film that the only thing people remember it for is Demi Moore shaving her head and the writers of the joke know Jada Smith has a shaved head, I think that's as far as they thought about the joke.
I’m sure this will all be framed as Will Smith the cuck regaining his alpha male status in Hollywood. Don’t be surprised if he gets offered more action man roles now and his career flourishes. It’s the classic ‘man stands up for woman’ tale which agents like Ari Gold would be calling Will with all the scripts the day after.
No doubt Jada got faaacked like never before by Will after that as what he did and the night he had was like an injection of testosterone straight from the hammer of Thor. He probably feels like a man again for the first time in years.
Cris rock should have been slapped for his so called jokes years ago.

Nah. True story - once in my late teens I lived with this guy who always boasted he was a proper London gangster geezer type. Always going on about how hard he was and how many people he’d bashed etc. very tiresome. One night we went out to some club and after kickout time we were milling around talking with everyone coming out of the club (always the best time to hook up btw) and this one guy walked past and for some reason my flat mate took an instant dislike to him. Started shouting, threatening and getting in his face etc. I thought to myself ‘ah, now I finally see if he’s as hard as he says he is’. Then his dude just squared up to my flat mate and gave him a slap, not too dissimilar to what Will Smith did. My flat mate instantly backed down like a dog who had been told off and said nothing the rest of the night on the way home.
So in short, a well timed slap really can shut someone up and assert dominance

I've watched that slap by Will so many times, each time it comes across as fake, staged even.
Never thought Will Smith was a slapper, he certainly is now!
I can see the Academy making him a scape goat by stripping the award away from him on the grounds of serious misconduct. Anything else condones senseless violence.

Alpha male status by slapping a comedian like a girl?!
Whatever happened to a punch?!

I’m talking about the victims of a hit and run.

I’m saying it doesn’t need to be a complaint in order for a crime to take place
Whether someone makes a complaint or not, an assault has taken place?
