The crazy decision to allocate the 2022 World Cup to Qatar in the middle of the european football season means plenty of adjustments to the next English season.

The first matches of the season will be played on the weekend of July 30th. Then the last games before the World cup break will take place on the weekend of November 12th. The Premier League will then restart on Boxing Day. The Championship resumes on December 10th. Leagues 1 and 2 will continue during the World Cup

I think Scotland and Wales will have something to say about you putting Ukraine in the WC, so soon.

Massive game in the Premier League relegation battle tonight as Burnley play Everton. Burnley have only won three league matches this season and can’t really afford to lose this one. If they do win it then Everton are in deep trouble with Lampard showing little signs of improving them so far

strange isn't Italy's last win in a knock-out stage of a world cup was in the final of 2006.

it's all good though, 4 worlds and 2 euro's isn't a bad haul is it?

Been reading the rules about European qualification to see where Wolves stand.

For the Champions League we would need to finish in the top four, and that ain’t going to happen.

5th place would guarantee a Europa League spot. The other spot in that competition would go to Palace if they won the FA Cup. But all the other teams left in the FA Cup will qualify for the Champions League so if Palace don’t win it then the second Europa League spot would go to the team finishing 6th.

Liverpool won the EFL Cup so the Conference League place for winning that competition is freed up. The spot in that competition would go to the team finishing 6th if Palace win the FA Cup or the team finishing 7th if they don’t.

There is no scenario where a team gets into Europe by finishing 8th, unless they won one of the cups.

so 7th or bust

Not bad at all. Not quite as good as Germany though. And they have qualified 👍

Fantastic player Beckanbauer. Pretty much invented the sweeper role. And Bayern are so dominant in Germany now it’s boring. 9 points clear at the moment on their way to their 10th successive title. Hard to imagine any other club winning the Bundesliga anytime soon.

as soon as Dortmund or the RedBull team come lose, they'll sign their best players

Yes, we have a big 6 , Germany has a big 1. That's despite the fact that Dortmund has bigger support. German friends tell me that it's because Bayern get twice the sponsorship money of Dortmund.

I semi like the German model with the fans getting a say and it's much more affordable etc etc but it does seem hugely weighted in bayerns favour
