Albion beat Fulham recently now beating Bournemouth but not been winning much else. Tonight they’ve had 30% possession so far

Yup, that could be Everton screwed. Apart from Watford, it is difficult to see them picking up many more points. A fine if extreme example that chucking money around doesn't always buy success. Building a new stadium in the middle of the river doesn't appear to be a great decision either.

I wasn't going to comment. But if they end up relegated after spending 600 million, it proves my point.

Everton fans were as happy as Larry with their transfer windows, spending big money, they all thought success was inevitable.

Wolves have spent nowhere near as much, and as far as value for money we are streets ahead. How people call our transfer windows crap, when we pick up bargains like Sa, Ait, Toti, Kilman, Chiquihno. it puts into perspective how wasteful Everton have been.

I don't care how much Wolves spend, 100 million, or 100 pounds. I want value for money, a happy dressing room, and a hand on the finances. We have built a damn good squad, Everton have built a house of cards.

Amiga can you please bang your drum elsewhere 😂😂😂

We've spent a lot since fosun took over and it'd be a lot higher if we didn't get discounts from uncle Jorge

Funny though we hold Everton up as the example of not spending but never a side that have spent money and had success

posted on 6/4/22

Tino I am not against spending money, and accept to compete at the higher levels you have to spend big money.

I just get annoyed at the people who dismiss our transfer windows as rubbish, because we didn't spend 35 million on Sanches, and dismissed signings like Sa, Ait, etc.

I don't know how high we can compete, but throwing money at it, without a handle on the finances, is simply gambling with the club. Wolves are competing with some of the best teams in the Prem, but fans always demand more, without any thought to where it might lead.

Our windows are disappointing for reasons we've gone over a million times

Yes we signed nice players but as reinforcements not as additions

Our squad isn't stronger its being done like for like

And now we have the spine of the team north of 30 and needing freshening up making the summer a big window so we'll see then the true ambition

posted on 6/4/22

But there is one key thing you either conveniently miss or deliberately get wrong

No one on here at any point has suggested going to hell on a hand cart, spend to excess and be damned

Not one person has ever suggested that

posted on 6/4/22

Tino when it comes to windows we have been a hell of a lot more successful than Everton. Even you can't argue that.

What you think of the squad is irrelevant, We have a closely knit team, on manageable wages, bought in on a budget we can afford. If your argument is stuff that, chuck money at it, pay them what they want, and stuff the attitude.

Then my friend we will never agree.

posted on 6/4/22

I have never once said that ffs 😂😂😂😂😂

posted on 6/4/22

So you are agreeing with me then. Spend what we can, accepting we have to manage wages, fees, and attitude.

That is what has bought us success (relatively)

Come the summer if we sign big, I trust the club are doing it for the right reasons. If we don't spend big, and bring in a few on a budget, I am fine with that too.

Urgh

You're so annoying

I'm not playing this game

Gonna go play fortnite as even that is less frustrating 😂

It doesn't prove anything, it is simply bad bad management that has put them where they are this season and nothing to do with signings. 59 points for them last season with a good manager and the same players. Ironically they actually made more from outs than ins this season so if anything the argument is that they should have spent more

Cinci they are facing FFP sanctions for their reckless spending. And we have spent less and achieved far more.

It is not simply about how much is spent, it is how well you spend it. If we all agree we have to work within a budget, managing fee's, wages etc. Then you can't complain every window if we don't spend big.

Fans only see spending money as a means to success, Nobody ever thinks about spending money could be a path to disaster. If Everton go down, I have no idea if their owners will stick with them, and continue bailing them out. But if they end up Like Sunderland and many others. the fans can't complain, they were happy to spend, and didn't consider the consequences of doing so recklessly.

But yet we have faced ffp sanctions

Yes Cinci, but we did not get a points deduction. It was all manageable, and ironically it was being in Europe that was the problem.

Everton have basically fallen foul of FFP, and even if they stay up could end up going into next season with a minus points next to their name.

Everton have dug themselves one big hole. Maybe some of their fans should have told them to stop digging? instead of going along with it.

posted on 6/4/22

Yeah crazy, first time they will finish below 12th since 2004.

posted on 6/4/22

Must be miserable, what were they thinking. Since 2004

4th
5th x 3
6th x 2
7th x 3
8th x 3

This season is bad, therefore spending is their undoing

I think what Everton have done over the last few years is buy lots of players but failed to build a team. Even under Ancelotti they seemed to be weaker than the sum of their parts. There's clearly big difference between chucking money around willy nilly in the hope that everything will fall in to place and building a successful team.

Wolves have built a very good team, which can hold its own in the top half of the Premier league. There appears to be a good atmosphere among the squad and a desire among the coaching staff to succeed. What hasn't happened for a while now is further incremental improvement. That's the frustration; the noises made by Scott Sellars the other day were worrying. Pretty much admitting that the club has no ambition to challenge for a higher league finish. Admittedly that's better than we've experienced for most of the last 40 odd years but at the same time a massive missed opportunity. It feels like the job is being left 80% finished.

No doubt in my mind we have seen our best days for the foreseeable.

Not getting into the same old dog fight with regard to transfers, but I'm with amiga.

Who would have thought that the team with the most seasons in the top flight, may well get relegated.

I think we should resign ourselves, that unless we qualify for Europe, Neves is off (somewhere)

I don't think anyone will be surprised and good luck to him, he has been a great servant.

Going to be a big summer ahead, we will need several new additions to continue any momentum given how many of our players look like they are on the way out and how many are getting to the end of their shelf life.

Just seen that Luke Skywalker, or rather Mark Hamill became a Wolves fan in 2017. Maybe it has been the force all along.
