I would say pretty long, although I'd like him to lose by a country mile. What I do hope is that the number of votes against are significant enough to signal the beginning of his end.
Nah, he'll win comfortably...for the same reason as why the Conservatives are in power, the alternative is rubbish!

Although I do like Ben Wallace.
.....garbage and rubbish ! whats the difference ?
I hope he does win.
The tories will be stuck for him for at least a year.
He'll get a hammering in the upcoming by-elections.
This is the best strategy of getting the tories out at the next GE
Ahhh wasn't aware of this
Unfortunately not very much although I would love it if it happened.
Saying that I can't stand any of them, but at least if he lost the vote we may get an election late this year

It baffles me that people say alternative is rubbish.
How much more rubbish can it get?
Lies, corruption a country with more children in poverty than ever, people not being able to afford food or heating. That’s before you get on to the actual mess this government have made of schools, highest taxes since the war. The list is endless
But the Murdock owned media keep telling you the alternative is worse.
It isn’t. You are fed lies and have fallen for spin and propaganda.
It cannot get worse.

Also, I honestly don't know the last time a Labour government didn't leave the country in absolute tatters economically. Think we're all sick of those experiments.

The tories have now been in power for over 12 years and this country is in the worse state it’s been in for my entire lifetime

I will not vote Tory whilst Johnson is their leader. I do not trust him with my childrens future

People say it because it is a vague and meaningless soundbite that is a complete hypothetical and so it never needs to be backed up.
Nobody knows if Corbyn getting in would have been better or worse for the country. So whenever it is going terribly wrong, tory supporters can point to nonsense "it would have been worse under Corbyn" because they don't have to back it up but also nobody can disprove it.
It hit its peak during the first lockdown when some hack on twitter took a photo of empty supermarket shelves and captioned it with "this is what it would have looked like under Corbyn" without the slightest realisation that this is literally what you are looking at under Johnson.

Hard to disagree
Also, I honestly don't know the last time a Labour government didn't leave the country in absolute tatters economically. Think we're all sick of those experiments.
------------------------------------------------------------------
In 2008 the entire global economy underwent the greatest crash and recession since the 1930s, particularly impacting Western economies, and especially those with a large financial services industry. The Tories, helped by the way their active propagandists in the print media skews the centre of gravity of our national discourse, lied that our economic problems were caused by Labour spending and borrowing too much. Incidentally, the Tory party had gone into the previous general election promising to match Labour's spending commitments. They subsequently gave us austerity (resulting in a collapse in healthcare and education provision) and major trade barriers with our main import and export market, together with loss of access to skills (the complex, interrelated impacts of which are only now beginning to be experienced).
Before that, Labour were last in power in the 1970s, and it's well known that there were major structural problems in the UK economy presided over by successive Labour and Tory governments, who were not far apart in that time of relative consensus on economic policy. Of course, Thatcher came in and enacted what is known these days as economic shock therapy, which delivered higher growth rates and certainly super-charged the City of London on one hand, and two recessions, mass unemployment, and a steadily widening gap between the salaries and wealth of richer and poorer parts of society. The 'Labour always leaves the economy in tatters' narrative is a myth straight from Conservative HQ / the Murdoch press.
Do people still believe that Labour caused the US subprime mortgage crises, which lead to the GFC or something?
It's difficult to argue if someone is blinkered enough to believe something so ridiculous.

I think you need to take a look at the country’s finances now - or even pre-pandemic, compare with where we were before the Tories took power, and maybe think about what you’ve said.
The facking idiotic Brexit deal that the Tories engineered and told us was so wonderful *on its own* has also already baked in more damage to the economy over the medium to long term than 2008 did. That was a well understood *choice* they made.
