Will Tottenham finish above Liverpool?

If City lost all their centre backs and the midfielders who covered for them they would get smashed to bits just like we did.

It only takes a little bit of quality to get at both our back fours as it is, as Spurs have shown.

The arrogance of some Liverpool fans on this article is shocking

Tottenham will not finish above Liverpool but the egg on faces for some on here would be outstanding if it did happen

Liverpool have top class wing backs and an unbelievable centre back in VVD

Someone’s comment above about our squad not being good enough but only defensively do Liverpool leave Tottenham miles behind

The forward lines are close in depth and quality ….for your Salah we have Kane for your Diaz we have son

====================================

Taking out the 2 players you have mentioned from your side your top 3 scorers managed 15.

Taking out the 2 players you have mentioned from our side and taking out Mane and Minamino who have left, our top 3 scorers managed 40.

If you were to put Nunez's stats into that equation then that would change to last season our top 3 scorers managed 66.

Hardly puts your strike force on an even footing with ours does it.

I still wouldn't say no to having Son in our squad though, he has the style of playing that would fit right in at Liverpool.

You finished on 69 points, 2 points ahead of Chelsea. You were still involved in the race, going into the last week or so, right? Maybe saying you scraped is unfair but it was a fairly close run thing. It's not like you had it in the bag with a month to spare.

As for your comment on Thiago…..
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah bit of an odd one that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know it’s not a popular opinion but I just don’t get it with him ….sorry !
----------------------------------------------------------------------
More a case of just not getting it full stop. To call him a luxury player, stating he doesn’t tackle and generally offers very little is probably the most clueless description of a player I’ve ever seen.

They absolutely did scrape top 4 brotle, don’t back down on this. They were still in the race for top 4 on the final day of the season. They were 4th at the start of the final day level on points with 5th place Lester and one point behind 3rd place Chelsea. The only finished 3rd because Chelsea and Lester both lost on the final day.

That season was an anomaly for us, not the norm. So using it as a benchmark to suggest that our levels are dropping is ridiculous, just like most things you’ve posted today.

We finished third because we got more points than everyone below us. It’s not rocket sconce.

We came third

I didn't think you'd top the Origi comment Spurtle but you've managed it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And??

I still remember you obtaining top 4 right near the end of the season and needing help from your keeper to score a goal, despite being defending champions.

Term, I'm not comparing those 2 scenarios but it does help to paint a picture of how well these managers do. Pep seems to get by better with players missing. We've seen that with KDB being out, we've seen it with him coping without an out and out goalscorer, and he's ended up with more titles between the 2 managers.

I think it's fair to suggest Liverpool would be the ones to suffer, all things considered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We had about 8 or 9 players injured, nearly all of them either in defence or players covering in defence because the original defenders were out injured.

The area around our penalty box became like the Bermuda Triangle where any liverpool defenders who entered were likely to disappear, only to reappear in the treatment room.

Pep has never had anything even remotely similar to deal with so to suggest he copes better is inaccurate at best.

It’s absolute scouse revisionism to say they didn’t scrape top 4 They were in 4th place level on points with the team in 5th at the start of the final day.

I’m not a stat man I’m afraid …I was basing things on quality of the players

If you want to be pedantic if you put our other players in the Liverpool team they would score more as your wing backs/ full backs are superior to ours ….you have more creativity in your squad in the wide areas

You haven’t read the thread properly as you will see I’ve said defensively including fullbacks liverpool are miles ahead

That leads to more goals through out the team

Ignoring stats if you think our forwards aren’t as good as yours fair enough, who am I to tell you what your opinions should be (unlike a few on here who think others aren’t allowed differing views) but I think it’s close ….it’s just Liverpool are more creative due to the wide areas

And what’s all this coping without a striker nonsense? It was a conscious decision to not use one, unless you’re going to tell us City couldn’t afford one?

Liverpool only got top 4 because us and Lester bottled it! They completely scraped into the top 4 because we both capitulated.

Must admit I don't get the playing without a striker thing. They've just sold one, up to Pep how he sets his team up innit.
