Matip is solid but I’d rather have Romero who’s much more talented. And Konate always looks so clumsy and dodgy to me. Reminds me of Mangala for Man City.

Are they? On what basis? City have been ahead of us in terms of individual players every season since Guardiola. In terms of his system they sometimes had a player or two being a square peg in a round hole, which has allowed us to compete as Liverpool generally get the right players for the system. The hope is that Haaland is an example of that but I think they just tweak it slightly and we'll have to do the same with Nunez but I'm not seeing how they're now way ahead of us based on just Haaland.

I do think they dropped some points they might not have towards the end when they had to bring an aging Fernandinho in, who they've now replaced but then Liverpool had four competitions to juggle right to the end.

Honestly I think Liverpool win the league next season but if not it will be tight again. Spurs fans' wishful thinking that somehow Liverpool will lose a load of points which an much inferior Spurs squad will take advantage of is just that, wishful thinking.

Consolidating top four and a good run in the CL is where Spurs are at and building on that will be the aim, which you failed to do under Poch, starving him of funds at the end to concentrate on the stadium. Of course this may work out better long term, in terms of competiting with the spend of the top clubs but you still need a few seasons of getting signings right. Right now, you're not there yet. I see most sensible Spurs fans on here agree with that.

Sandy obviously has previous for bigging the team up and then slaughtering them mid season, when his claims fail to materialise but he seems to have a few more backers this season. Let's see what happens.

Matip is a better footballer. Prob the best driving cb last season of all teams. Romero is a brilliant defender but his distribution can be suspect. I don' even know if Konate has lost a Pl game and gomez, with a run of games, has proved hes top draw. Liverpool defence is way better than spurs. By miles.

Liverpool have more quality in the squad. Spurs are building a squad but still having to bulk it out with some mediocre stop gaps. Even the no frills players I'm klopps team is by design and they do exactly what the system needs. Conte it still building that.

Going from a team that counters well to a team that can break down and dominate possession takes time.

It's not like when Conte was at Chelsea or in Italy where he had blank cheques.
