If North Korea stopped the whole country to mourn the loss of a leader and arrested people holding up signs in protest, everyone would be mocking them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole country hasn't been stopped. It is at employers discretion. I will be working on Monday as will the majority of my staff - only 1 out of 14 has asked for it off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also would you mock the state funeral of JFK? Charles de Gaulle? Hirohito? Prince Henrik?
Why do we pretend that what's happening in the UK doesn't have in every country for particular dignitaries?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they were arresting people for holding up signs to give the appearance that the person was universally loved, then yeah I probably would.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think it is acceptable to shout abuse as a coffin is passing by?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally, no. Its not illegal, but could be seen as breaching the peace in that instance. That one I am less concerned about.
I more concerned about the arrests of people holding signs or asking who elected Charles to be honest. Do you think that is acceptable?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At the King's proclamation, no I don't think it's acceptable to be arrested for that, FWIW.

Holding a placard up at the proclamation makes you look like a moron but shouldn't be illegal.

Yes, if they are constrained doing pretty much anything then what is the point of its existence? Tourists? Might as well run a lottery for it. Like choosing a prom queen or something. Commoners are constrained in what they can say or ask if the monarch as well so what is the fcking point?
See if we ever reverse the decline if this country maybe we can start talking about the luxuries we might choose to afford. Until then GTF.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you agreed with me all along then. That was pointless.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This argument has been about the protestors during the the funeral processions.
Holding a placard up at the proclamation makes you look like a moron but shouldn't be illegal.

We have a head of state that nobody voted for and a prime minister only 80,000 people voted for.
Democracy in the UK 2022.
…..
The same as it was the last time Labour were in power.

He’s a constitutional monarch. It’s not like he can command us and make laws.
Seems a bit if a pointless protest

They can’t make legislation, their ‘powers’ are purely constitutional. If they could pass laws etc I would understand, but they can’t do anything and this protest just seems like attention seeking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, if they are constrained doing pretty much anything then what is the point of its existence?

If North Korea stopped the whole country to mourn the loss of a leader and arrested people holding up signs in protest, everyone would be mocking them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole country hasn't been stopped. It is at employers discretion. I will be working on Monday as will the majority of my staff - only 1 out of 14 has asked for it off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also would you mock the state funeral of JFK? Charles de Gaulle? Hirohito? Prince Henrik?
Why do we pretend that what's happening in the UK doesn't have in every country for particular dignitaries?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they were arresting people for holding up signs to give the appearance that the person was universally loved, then yeah I probably would.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think it is acceptable to shout abuse as a coffin is passing by?

Hopefully they were taken away and given a lecture about how the 'Constitution' of this country works and that we do not elect our monarch. If they are going to turn up, make a scene and ask stupid questions then they deserve it really

Urgh.
I’ll leave you fawning f*cking apologists to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who is fawning? I don't think that any of us like Prince Andrew.
Most of us respected the Queen.
Seems to me like you are incapable of making a sensible argument so are stamping your feet and running off.

The UK is becoming prison island. Remember - even though to a lot of racists Brexit was a way of keeping ‘them’ out, Brexit is also keeping you in. Your kids standard of living will be shocking so maybe try and find an Irish grandparent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The amount of people who go abroad for their holidays from the UK suggests this is a load of crap. I would imagine Australia is no different to the UK other than the fact that it was a prison island.
