Delightful lady.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not something I’d personally say buy I think people underestimate just how much damage the British empire did to cultures and the people of the countries they invaded and looted and stole. Whether or not the queen was a saint and the nicest old lady or not, for decades she stood as the figurehead of an institution that has overseen some of the greatest evils committed against invaded countries for hundreds of years.
Why should people respect the royal family when they have blood on their hands ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard to disagree with that Robb. At the same time, we can't blame the Queen for the past and she was born into what she was born into. Imperialism is a completely different conversation, but as a person, she was well respected by the majority. I think it is possible to like and respect the Queen, even if you don't agree with the monarchy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think anyone has blamed the Queen specifically, it's the Institution that some people are not happy with and it's very very difficult, nearly impossible, to separate the 2.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it’s quite easy when you look at the facts. The Queen oversaw a period of the ending of the empire. Therefore wishing her an excruciating death is entirely disgusting.
The rhetoric coming out from certain parts of the US is a disgrace. The usual suspects guilty as usual…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some of the stuff I have read on Facebook is moronic. They have no idea about how the government and monarchy work.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently she was a fascist too

It’ll probably be another 20 years before Charles shuffles off this mortal coil
Plenty of time to protest later
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the line i hear in regards to ANY protest ..'it's not the right time' (there never is) 'what about x and y' (someones is ALWAYS going to be offended).
And the language is changing from being arrested for disturbing the peace or causing trouble to being arrested for having a different opinion and the 'wrong' time, and people agree with it!
wtf is going on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it the right time to hurl abuse when a coffin is passing by?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i don't agree with it at all but he clearly went for impact, which is part of what protesters do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it was the wrong time then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For him it clearly wasn't....for you it was.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you don't agree with it, but also have a problem with people saying that it was the wrong time? Makes no sense to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
tbh, i personally dont care about any of it but my point is that you or anyone else does not have the right to tell someone, who feels so strongly about something, that they have gone to the point of protesting about it, that they should only do it on certain terms and conditions that 'everyone agrees to...that defeats the whole point of protesting...which is what i'm talking about...not the fact that it's the queen etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what you are saying is that I don't have a right to have my say on a topical subject?
If they want to protect then that is up to them. That won't stop me from believing that the timing is completely out of order and airing my views on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can say what you like, it's you opinion, just like the protester did, that's what i'm saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So do I or don't I have the right to tell someone its not the right time to protect? You are contradicting yourself.
Unlike normal I'm a bit busy., so have not read many of the posts. But there seems to be confusion between the Queen and the monarchy.
Things have been done either by the monarchy or un the monarchy. But not by the Queen. It is the Queen whose funeral it is, and her alone.
It is equivalent to somebody turning up to Moira Hindleys great great grand daughter on the day of their funeral and abusing or protesting because of her great great grandmother. Not an exact analogy of course, but close. Individuals are not responsible for the sins of others.

'Hurling abuse'
As far as I can tell, no one 'hurled abuse' - the guy said 'Andrew, you're a sick man' - that's all.
Granted it was while he's following the coffin so it's distasteful (I suppose, even considering what Andrew did) but it shouldn't be an offence or even worthy of being 'moved on' by the police.
People that want protests stifled always say 'it's not the right time/place' but what they really want is for you to protest out of sight so you can be more easily ignored.
People criticised me for comparing this country, during the past few days, to North Korea but I stand by it. The attempt to present the country as 100% united in mourning and the stifling of anything remotely resembling dissent is eerily similar.
If support for the monarchy is so universal they wouldn't need to harass/arrest people holding pieces of paper (in some cases blank paper!) into silence would they?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where does it stop though?
Should people be allowed to protest against war on Remembrance Sunday at the cenotaph?
Should non-LFC fans be allowed to protest at a Hillsborough remembrance service?
Should people be able to shout abuse at Fergie's coffin when the sad day happens that he passes away?
Should people be able to protest against Islam outside a mosque on Fridays?
Surely you believe the line should be drawn somewhere, so where is it? Or is it just for protests you agree with?

I have no problem with someone who holds the view Charles "is not my King" as that protestors banner said.
I have a real problem with someone who would chose this occasion, or in other circumstances, such as when a minutes silence is being held etc, to air their thoughts & protest. It is a lack of basic decency and total lack of respect. The two are not mutually exclusive, one can protest and employ decency and respect in doing so. This is a distasteful exploitation of the high level of exposure surrounding events and says more about the character of these people than it does about the status of freedom of speech in this country.
I’m probably one of the biggest critics of the royal family on here, for reasons I’ve explained in previous articles, and won’t go into again here.
I think it was VC that said that disrespect towards the dead is disgusting. I disagree. It depends on the person. I will not show respect towards someone who had died if I didn’t respect them when they were alive. I find that a little hypocritical.
However, I wouldn’t voice my disrespect during a funeral (or a procession as in this case), there is no need for that.
Let her be buried, then start the protests and discussion around the royals. Protest in public if you so wish. But do it when people are willing to listen, rather than when they are grieving (yes, people are grieving, although I’m not one of them).
However, as has been pointed out by many on here, the protest in this case was done for maximum publicity and effect. What they have done is not illegal, but it is not the route I would have taken.
For the record, Charles is not my king either.

Does the Queen specifically have blood on her hands though? Genuine question by the way.
Think it's silly to hold people to account for their ancestors actions or none of us would have a leg to stand on.
———-
I don’t personally think she’s directly got blood on her hands in the way some might think when that phrase is used but by virtue of being the queen and head of a royal family that does have blood on its hands as the head of a British empire which owes trillions of pounds in restitution to the countries it wrecked over the centuries you can understand why certain people hate what they stand for.
When it comes to holding people to account for their ancestors, there’s a world of difference between Joe Bloggs on the street whose great great great grandfather was working on a slave ship and a Queen who has accumulated a vast wealth in part off the back of things taken from countries invaded by Britain in the past.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand their hatred of the monarchy but if she hasn't actually done anything wrong in terms of blood on her hands, then her only crime in this instance was being born into the Royal family.
I acknowledge she has gained from our troubled past but I'd also again ask just how far back do we go with this type of stuff?
Not that we should brush over our past, but countries all over the world have gained in one way or another by invading and stealing from others.

All of those are fine - we have the right to protest, whether it is in 'poor taste' or not.
It would be harsh on Fergie though, he isn't the figurehead of a genocidal empire and - as far as I'm aware - isn't the parent of a nonce, and doesn't take hundreds of millions from the taxpayer to maintain it all.

Ok, having the 'right' may not have been the correct word but the main point was there's ALWAYS been people like yourself who make excuses as to why people shouldn't protest for whatever reason you make up and if people like you got their own way, we would still be in the stone ages, with women and people of colour having no rights, the point of protests are to have an impact.

I think it was VC that said that disrespect towards the dead is disgusting. I disagree. It depends on the person. I will not show respect towards someone who had died if I didn’t respect them when they were alive. I find that a little hypocritical.
…
No one has said you have to show any respect. It is about showing disrespect. There is a big difference.
I am not a fan of the Royal Family myself but I would not dream of going to protest them while they are walking behind the coffin with their mum in it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the line i hear in regards to ANY protest ..'it's not the right time' (there never is) 'what about x and y' (someones is ALWAYS going to be offended).
And the language is changing from being arrested for disturbing the peace or causing trouble to being arrested for having a different opinion and the 'wrong' time, and people agree with it!
wtf is going on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it the right time to hurl abuse when a coffin is passing by?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i don't agree with it at all but he clearly went for impact, which is part of what protesters do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it was the wrong time then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For him it clearly wasn't....for you it was.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you don't agree with it, but also have a problem with people saying that it was the wrong time? Makes no sense to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
tbh, i personally dont care about any of it but my point is that you or anyone else does not have the right to tell someone, who feels so strongly about something, that they have gone to the point of protesting about it, that they should only do it on certain terms and conditions that 'everyone agrees to...that defeats the whole point of protesting...which is what i'm talking about...not the fact that it's the queen etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what you are saying is that I don't have a right to have my say on a topical subject?
If they want to protect then that is up to them. That won't stop me from believing that the timing is completely out of order and airing my views on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can say what you like, it's you opinion, just like the protester did, that's what i'm saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So do I or don't I have the right to tell someone its not the right time to protect? You are contradicting yourself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course you can, not everyone will agree with you though but that's your right, as a UK citizen, just like the protester.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well in your earlier post you said:
my point is that you or anyone else does not have the right to tell someone, who feels so strongly about something, that they have gone to the point of protesting about it, that they should only do it on certain terms and conditions
You are all over the place
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, having the 'right' may not have been the correct word but the main point was there's ALWAYS been people like yourself who make excuses as to why people shouldn't protest for whatever reason you make up and if people like you got their own way, we would still be in the stone ages, with women and people of colour having no rights, the point of protests are to have an impact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a load of guff. I don't have an issue with people protesting about the monarchy. I just don't agree with them doing it when a man is following the coffin of his dead mother. And I have no problem voicing my opinion that anyone who agrees with such actions has questionable morals. If someone wants to protest on such and occasion then they can't be upset if they get arrested.

https://amp.lbc.co.uk/news/students-back-professor-wishing-the-queen-excruciating-pain/

The protests are lagely for ascension of Charles and investiture of prince of wales for Willy ... and Andrew's shenanigans are well known.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well if that is so protest away, peacefully. Even that's difficult to judge, a placard I'd peaceful.
If someone screams in Charles's face, what's that?

It’ll probably be another 20 years before Charles shuffles off this mortal coil
Plenty of time to protest later
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the line i hear in regards to ANY protest ..'it's not the right time' (there never is) 'what about x and y' (someones is ALWAYS going to be offended).
And the language is changing from being arrested for disturbing the peace or causing trouble to being arrested for having a different opinion and the 'wrong' time, and people agree with it!
wtf is going on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it the right time to hurl abuse when a coffin is passing by?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i don't agree with it at all but he clearly went for impact, which is part of what protesters do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it was the wrong time then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For him it clearly wasn't....for you it was.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you don't agree with it, but also have a problem with people saying that it was the wrong time? Makes no sense to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
tbh, i personally dont care about any of it but my point is that you or anyone else does not have the right to tell someone, who feels so strongly about something, that they have gone to the point of protesting about it, that they should only do it on certain terms and conditions that 'everyone agrees to...that defeats the whole point of protesting...which is what i'm talking about...not the fact that it's the queen etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what you are saying is that I don't have a right to have my say on a topical subject?
If they want to protect then that is up to them. That won't stop me from believing that the timing is completely out of order and airing my views on it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can say what you like, it's you opinion, just like the protester did, that's what i'm saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So do I or don't I have the right to tell someone its not the right time to protect? You are contradicting yourself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course you can, not everyone will agree with you though but that's your right, as a UK citizen, just like the protester.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well in your earlier post you said:

You are all over the place
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, having the 'right' may not have been the correct word but the main point was there's ALWAYS been people like yourself who make excuses as to why people shouldn't protest for whatever reason you make up and if people like you got their own way, we would still be in the stone ages, with women and people of colour having no rights, the point of protests are to have an impact.

And her son is a sweaty nonce.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you have any evidence of him engaging in sexual relations with a minor?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't the queen pay £12 million for the details of Andrew's involvement to be kept on the down-low?
Allegations of sex-trafficing are not a good look after all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not what we are talking about.

Andrew will be getting the corgis apparently as he’s the most experienced groomer in the family.
