General Greenwood Consensus?

Luis Suarez was found guilty of racism and biting two footballers on the pitch which is basically GBH in the street for the common man. He wasn't sacked either.

Greenwood's contract could be terminated mutually for sure but I don't think there's a cat in hells chance they will sack him now the charges are dropped.

Can’t see how he’d win on appeal if you do decide to terminate m, you’ve got a years worth of proof already about reputational damage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. The fact that his sponsors have cancelled deals with him is solid evidence. Plus the numerous club sponsors that have said they are monitoring the situation.

I wouldn’t have a problem with the club terminating his contract *even if they knew they’d likely lose out financially on appeal* tbh.

In fact, I’d applaud them for it.

i think it's safe to assume that se85 knows absolutely nothing about either uk employment law or the finer details of greenwood's contract.

Is he responsible for its creation or release?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That doesn't matter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is of you are blaming him for it.

The 'witnesses' arent interested in pursuing the case.

The evidence isnt grounds to proceed to trial.

The kid has never admitted to any of the charges.

I find it bizarre that so many United fans are getting so upset at the suggestion that 1 of our young players, found guilty of nothing, be given a second chance.

The motivation can only be to avoid considering that they were wrong on this subject.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think that it is possible to be wrong about not liking men who abuse women. Only way Mason gets a pass off most right thinking people is if it is confirmed that this was some kind of setup or role play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But we arent going to get that confirmation, so you have to go on what we know.

The witness isn't pursuing it.

The evidence isn't enough to convict on any charge.

Can you take this and concede he MIGHT not be guilty?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have always conceded that. If you hadn't been banned you'd be aware of that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So why, given the biggest indication yet he is innocent, are you still so insistent he can't continue at United?

I’d be disappointed if it’s not their first course of action.

Publicly, it’ll be a mutual termination if they do decide to sack him. Most of the time it isn’t really that though!

Why would the club terminate his contract now, and not 12 months ago?

A bit like with players handing in transfer requests.

The club would’ve sacked him already if they were going to sack him.

Sell him - If the stigma is as bad as some suggest, who would buy him, and would he go for the move?

Terminate his contract - Why now, when this is the biggest indication he isnt guilty?

Looks like my return to attending games could be short-lived depending on how the club handle this.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true.

They might have received legal advice advising against doing so, for more than one reason.

The same reason we haven’t with Mendy either.

The sensible thing would be to bin him. There’s obviously going to be a backlash. It will look pretty bad if we keep him, but I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they try.
