The whole plastic manc syndrome ,ive followed Man U for the the last15 plus years and I know I live in London or Ireland but im still a plastic manc. The whole culture of big city clubs is buy as cheap as possible and keep winning, alas we broke the sequence with a big home based support. The real supporters in Manchester follow CITY.

finally, youve at last admitted to making stupid points!
took a while but we got there in the end!

Wow. Playground comebacks. That's almost as bad as "I know you are, I said you are, but what am I?"

I wouldn't argue with that like you seem to be doing when it comes to United

I don't quite follow, I never argued that point about resale value. Just the we don't buy the league stuff.

no of course not!

These Blackburn 'fans' are still peeved about last season at OT I reckon

I see you've decided to stop debating and start talking about results that happened a while ago. Well done.

You have to sepnd

We just do not do it like City or Chelsea

We can't compete with a club that spends over a 100m a year so we have to be cleverer than that.

I was saying last season that SAFhas been building a young team that would operate around Rooney for the forseeable future

It is coming to fruition now

Why do you think our record buy is now 4th choice up front?

It didn't go over my head. You just proved my point. He played for us because we were a big club then, he didn't play England at Southampton because they weren't.

Our status in the league has changed, but nothing else has.

Rubbish

been a Manc red for 40 years

Manc reds outnumber manc blues

I should know, I live here

I went to my sons school sports day not long ago and there was about 80 United tops and 2 or 3 city tops

Explain that

If you could post a reply without resorting to insults please you imbecile.

What was wrong with my original statment?

Did you not spend money like it was going out of fashion? Did I dream all those 30m signings that you made?

Weren't Utd the first club to offer 100k a week in wages?

Dont get me wrong. Your club spent wisely on and off the field. You've secured record sponsorship deals, Got a massive stadium bringing in record matchday revenue, Your marketing strategy around the world has brought in more revenue. All good work by Utd but you've got to where you are today by spending money.

i try to debate but it's impossible with some of the numpties operating on this thread. You yourself are being incredibly selective in ignoring whatis good about United and focussing on what you believe is bad

Can't beat em? join em

Your arrogance is amazing, still.

Rovers sold players for more, 300% more in Shearers case. You haven't sold Rooney for double yet, your value doesn't equal market value. You believe he's worth more than Carrol I believe he's worth less than Aguero.

Who cares about the result at OT, 0 points is 0 points. It kept your tourists happy which is all MUFC is interested in.

Back to the points raised:

Anybody think Jones has improved considerably since July?

Why doesn't the academy at the worlds biggest club produce decent internationals?

I'm coming to this very late and there's no way I'm wading through 140-odd comments in a thread that's quickly descended into bickering (I gave up once it moved on to spelling).

On the OP, despite its slightly aggressive tone, it raises a valid general point: playing for a big club (not just United) does, justly or unjustly, inflate a player's reputation.

But, I think that in the specific case of Jones this doesn't really apply because he's a genuinely special talent. I suspect that he'd have got an England call up by now if he was still at Blackburn and the reason he didn't last season is simply because he was so young and inexperienced.

I don't think any sane United fan thinks that we have 'made' him and that Blackburn doesn't deserve huge credit for nurturing him.

I wasn't bothered with us winning, no. I empathised with the teams that we took the players from, however, because it has happened a lot to us.

What sort of imbecile would moan when things are going their way?

You should have come in earlier, you pretty much summed everything up.

Still, the point about too young and inexperienced is what gets me riled up. How is 1 summer with a completely new club going to change that?

Off you run now.

As for us Rovers supposedly not liking the spending, who has said that?

-----------------------
Nor do we want to

We would rather have Ronaldo back too and give Madrid their 80m back. David Gill said so

I'm not arragant at all. Just defending my club for a bunch of numptiessaying we do what City and Clelsea do which is nonsense

Admit it

Jones is a beast of a player who will improve at United with players like Vidic and Rio around him and SAF at the helm

Sorry if you don't like that but it is true. Not arrogant!

Well, there was one.

Like the fool you are, you must have imagined the rest.

As I said earlier, you do not have the aptitude for debate, so you may as well carry on sniping from the side, like a little pipsqueak.
