Nobody is suggesting that Dawson hasn't been a great signing. But let's not kid ourselves he's something he's not.
There is a reason Maguire still has a market value ten times that of Dawson, he will leave United in the summer and his performance levels and career will improve vastly. Plenty of great players have failed at Old Trafford recently. I can see Newcastle signing him.
yeah toon is a likely destination
Not sure what started this debate about Maguire but I think we are well served in that department with Dawson, Kilman and Collins and see no real need for another centre back. Although I suppose if we started playing three at the back we might need some cover.
Still not changed my view since November 2020 that our transfer priority is a goalscorer
He's still got 2 years left of a massive donkeys contract at United.

Well, not entirely true that. During the summer of 2021 you stated that in Traore, Jimenez and Neto we had what "must surely be one the best frontlines in the division".
Hardly crying out for a goal scorer then.
As you’ve used that quote about 500 times since, it’s a shame you weren’t intelligent enough to understand the full post. What I said, at a time when they were all injured, was that if they were fully fit we would have one of the best forward lines in the division. Sadly of course Jimenez and Neto have rarely been fully fit since. And in terms of your brain power, neither have you
And even if they were all fully fit, the comment is clearly still evidently absolute nonsense!! When all three were firing on all cylinders they were averaging less than a goal every other game
Hence why we are still looking for a goal scorer.
I'm still saving my "midfield options that are the envy of every other Premier League club" quote!!
Good for you pundit. This forum and the fifty other ja606 forums you’ve posted on recently would be all the worse without you. Evidently
I think we need another CB. Dawson is 33, so may not have many more seasons left in him. Collins is still young and learning. Kilman isn't a great communicator, so needs someone alongside him.
The urgency to get one is lower, but we will need a more long term solution than Dawson at some point.
*Dawson will be 33 at the end of the season.
Not sure why posters bother with W/E as he's clearly only on here to wind people up. Just ignore him and he may well go away, or get banned again.
As for Maguire, he just turned 30, so he's not exactly a spring chicken.

No one said he was. Just that he is a better player than our current defenders have been. His age is irrelevant to that.
How can he be a "better player" when he can't get games with United? He's only started 5 league games so far. I'll take our CB's over him any day.
We can find another centre back from the available market place, on lower wages, younger and better than Hee Haw. No rush yet.
Sad to see that Sarkic has picked up another injury. He had to be recalled injured from Birmingham last season.. Spent some time with us as Sa’s backup then went on loan again to Stoke. But he got injured again at the weekend and may not play again this season

I don't think anyone is saying we should sign him. He is unrealistic for us due to wages and will more likely go to a club that can pay more than we will. He would start here if he played for Wolves though and it is unrealistic to think otherwise.

Well that's a stupid argument. I wonder why two World Cup finalists start ahead of him at centre back.
I take it you think Dawson and Kilman would start ahead of Martinez and Varane? Laporte has only started 7 games for Man City in the Premier League this season. Do you think Dawson and Kilman are better than him?
Makes you wonder why Man Utd are third and we are bottom half trying to pull away from relegation.
Read an article in the Athletic earlier where all the journos covering the PL clubs predicted where they would finish. According to which only Southampton are getting relegated and four or five are going to finish 17th.
The Walsall fan and WBA sympathiser Steve Madeley reckons we're going to finish 16th, miserable facker.
Gets a lot of stick on there does Steve Madeley, mainly I think because his name is not Tim Spiers who is now the Spurs reporter
Spiers used to get a lot of stick as well to be fair.
To be fair many have been pining for Spiers to come back to Wolves on the Athletic and were apoplectic when he stood in for one week recently. Not that I was one of them
