How can he be a "better player" when he can't get games with United? He's only started 5 league games so far. I'll take our CB's over him any day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well that's a stupid argument. I wonder why two World Cup finalists start ahead of him at centre back.

I take it you think Dawson and Kilman would start ahead of Martinez and Varane? Laporte has only started 7 games for Man City in the Premier League this season. Do you think Dawson and Kilman are better than him?

Makes you wonder why Man Utd are third and we are bottom half trying to pull away from relegation.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Shame you have to digress from the original comments. You think Maguire is better than Kilman or Dawson. I disagree. It's all about opinions, but you always have to take it to the next level. What the heck have the other two got to do with my opinion of our CB's?

You said Maguire can't be better than Kilman or Dawson as he isn't starting at the moment for United. Which either means that you think Kilman and Dawson would start ahead of two World Cup finalists for United, or that your point was completely irrelevant and has no bearing on ability levels.

You can choose which.

To be fair many have been pining for Spiers to come back to Wolves on the Athletic and were apoplectic when he stood in for one week recently. Not that I was one of them
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I think it is just a standard thing to abuse our reporter. Nash, Spiers and Madeley have all had it.

Foden hasn’t been starting recently for Man City. Looks like Neto must be better than him as he started our last match? 😂😂

My goodness. All I'm doing is disagreeing with your opinion that Maguire would walk into our side. He's not the player he was. Just what is your problem?

No problem. Just taking enjoy watching you chase your own tail after you're called out for making stupid statements. Its even more funny when you thought that the statement proved your point when you wrote it, then have to spend the next few posts trying to ignore you said it.

Big birthday celebration for Wolves today. One year ago today was the last time a striker scored for Wolves

What's even funnier, is that he must have taken time out of his day to Google how many league games Maguire has started this season!

Given his age, that could have been a whole afternoon activity as well. Firing up the computer, one finger typing, navigating web pages etc. Probably had to have a nap afterwards.

Young Liam Kean seems to be bucking that trend slightly, for someone that's barely started shaving yet he seems to be doing a decent job and gets the stories. Spiers wrote about the club from a fans perspective and rarely pretended otherwise.

I think Spiers was generally ok but he did have a cosy club thing going on with some of the old dross that backfired when he jumped all over Fosun initially.

Still up in the air as to whether Everton sign Coady permanently. When he went there with only a £4.5m option to buy it looked like a no brainer for the Toffees. But Dyche is now the manager and he has left him on the bench for recent games. He has said he likes his enthusiasm and leadership qualities but that doesn’t necessarily mean he rates him as a player. And Everton have only twice kept a clean sheet twice this season when he has been in the team. He is rumoured to be paid £62k a week which means they certainly wouldn’t sign him if they were relegated.

posted on 10/3/23

I think they'll sign him regardless. They paid a big loan fee and £4.5 million isn't a big fee to make it permanent. The best way they can cut their losses is to sell him on. I'm pretty sure a newly promoted team would take a chance on him, so think he will be quite easy to move on and they'll probably get £10 million for him.

posted on 10/3/23

Not sure they paid a loan fee for Coady and if you think he's worth 10m, then we should get him back at the end of the season, sell him and pocket the 10m.

We are committed to sell if they pay the agreed fee Wolfie. So for once tam could well be right.

I think they call those deals ‘doing an Afobe’

His value was at €25 million when he moved to Everton. It's at approx. €14 million now according to most websites. Most loans now include a fee for the loan (unless it is a younger player going to a feeder club). It's difficult to think this one didn't include a fee given the low transfer price compared to Coady's value.

Wolfgang is right that we are committed to selling. If Everton want to take up the £4.5 million we can't stop it, it will be just up to Coady. Really though, I think it is a win-win for us. We either get Coady back to sell on for more money, or off the books hassle free.

It's crazy how the narrative from both teams has changed from Wolves making a huge error and Everton getting a steal; to how do both clubs get rid of him.

posted on 10/3/23

The error, if we no longer wanted him, was not putting him on the market and get a bidding war going.

posted on 10/3/23

What’s ironic is that Lopetegui is showing hints of returning to a 3 man back line so maybe to have 4 covering 3 positions we would welcome him back

posted on 10/3/23

Wouldn't be averse to having him back but he probably is a saleable asset, presumably we get a cut of any sell on fee if Everton do offload him.

Could even be that they sell Tarkowski if they go down and keep Coady.
