Diego Costa’s injury is not as bad as first feared but he is likely to be out for a month

In his pre Newcastle press conference today Lopetegui was reminiscing about Bobby Robson who was his manager when he played for Barcelona. One of the greatest managers was his view

Not sure they paid a loan fee for Coady and if you think he's worth 10m, then we should get him back at the end of the season, sell him and pocket the 10m.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are committed to sell if they pay the agreed fee Wolfie. So for once tam could well be right.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I understand that Wolfgang. I was merely suggesting that if Tammy thought he was worth 10m and they don't take up the option, then we either keep him or sell him for...10m.

All irrelevant, as he's not worth that much, imo.

I wouldn't want Coady back to be honest. I think his tendency to sit deep and back off isn't compatible with how Lopetegui wants us to play. It potentially sends us backwards from the progress we have made the last few months.

Would rather us look forwards.

Lots of nervousness on the main toon forum, Newcastle - online. After a recent dip in results many saying the Wolves game is their most important of the season. In current form over the last 5 games they are bottom but one.
Let's hope their fears are well founded.

Alan Shearer and Ian Wright back Gary Lineker and pull out of MOTD. Never could stand Lineker so pleased he's off. Shearer is ok and Ian Wright I really like.
I'm a bit pee'd off with this retirement malarkey so if the BBC want someone knowledgeable, charismatic ... and cheap, well hear I am.

Like Lineker myself, and think he's absolutely within his rights to say what he likes on any subject, as long he doesn't do it on the BBC, which he didn't.

How can the BBC tell a person who they do not employ except on a freelance basis what they can say in their private life. Disgraceful.

Have been a staunch supporter of the BBC for well over half a century but, in my opinion, they are making some very bad decisions of late.

The government have put their own stooges in charge. The guy making this decision is the same person who tried to get Boris Johnson a £800k loan. Then they have the nerve to complain about Lineker not being impartial on Twitter.

This is the government trying to control its own publicity and I'm glad it is backfiring on them spectacularly. Lineker, Shearer, Wright, Richards and Scott have all announced they won't be on the show tomorrow so far.

Definitely. The Germans have a history of suppressing government criticism, so you'd be a good fit with your history.

Was quite amazing listening to radio 5 earlier, trying to juggle the self criticism with a pretense of impartiality and even handedness. Trying to 50/50 the argument with simpletons ringing in trying to defend the decision with ridiculous arguments. Amazing but not amusing.

Will be the last game i miss. Hoping for a point at least. Interested to see what Julen does in this one. Been mostly a back four guy so far but we have three good CBs now. would mean two mids or two forwards only? Feel like he likes three mids for the most part so would Jimenez and Cunha work well together? Would he drop Sarabia? Think a back four is still the way to go personally.

Good to have options isn't it. Whatever unsettles the opposition. Wouldn't like it to get like my lad's team though where the tactical genius of a coach tries something different every ten minutes.

I'm not fussed about what formations we go with these days. I trust Julen to adapt to whatever the game situation is. Sometimes he will get it slightly wrong, but he identifies that and makes the changes.

It's nice to finally have a coach that doesn't have us playing a rigid style and isn't afraid to change things up if something isn't working.

Don’t like MOTD, too focused on the big 6 and all the London clubs. I prefer to watch the matches on Sky where every match gets the same airtime.

Gonçalo Guedes has been doing well on his loan at Benfica but he’s suffered a knee injury that requires surgery and might miss the rest of the season

yep, agree with that. He doesn't just sit back if it isn't working

Hadn’t realised how much Newcastle’s form has dipped. They’ve only won one of their last Eight premier league games, lost each of the last three by 2-0, and have only scored 3 goals since Boxing Day.

In current form tables, over the last 10 games Wolves and Newcastle have both got 14 points. Over the last 6 games Newcastle are 15th in the league, Wolves are 7th
