yet another "yellow" shirt.
I like it. Nice, simple shirt that, none of the daft random black shapes this time.
What shade do you approve of Wulfrunnut, lighter or darker than this? I wouldn't say this was yellow, yellow is Norwich, this is more of a gold shade for me, not the orange colour we've had for most of the last 40 odd years though granted.
Daniel Podence in talks with Real Betis in Spain in a deal that could bring in £10m
A while ago when we were discussing the possible transfer of Adama to Barcelona we were offered Nico Gonzalez in exchange who then was an untried but promising youngster. Since then the player spent a year on loan at Valencia and evidently had an excellent season. Barca intend selling him this summer and Wolves and Porto are the teams being linked with him for a deal of around €10m

I think we can do better than Podence. If we can get £10mk then I'd take it and move to a new target.
If we are looking to raise more cash I would be up for selling Podence, Ait Nouri and Hwang but not Kilman
I still think there is much room for improvement with RAN. I believe he's got a very high ceiling.
Can we afford to be patient with the likes of RAN, Fabio etc?
I can understand that we need to raise cash and would be OK with selling Hwang and Podence. I would like to keep Ait Nouri but if he does go I think we have adequate cover. For me, keeping Kilman is a no-brainer.
Surely, though, we have to give Fabio an opportunity with us. From a distance he does seem to have improved since he last played for us. Why not give him until January at least?
In the first half of the season we can assess his contribution. If he hasn't scored, let's say, 5 or 6 goals in that time it is likely that that will be either because he is not good enough, or he hasn't been given enough minutes. If either of these is the case then it would show that keeping him will be an expensive luxury.
Everyone is shouting that we need a striker. Fabio is a striker. Let's find out if he's a good enough striker.
Agree with all of that wulfrun.
I do think RAN has potentially a high ceiling but one question is which position would produce the highest ceiling, full back, wing back or winger. Wing back is where he has shown most consistent form for Wolves but a lot of teams, including Wolves, no longer play with wing backs
As for Fabio i think he’s had a cloud over him at Wolves. Firstly many people can’t just consider him as Fabio, they constantly refer to him as Fabio that cost £35m. It wasn’t his choice to be given that price tag and i think it’s been a burden to him. Secondly he was thrown in at the deep end well before he was ready because of Raul’s injury and that didn’t help his reputation. He showed plenty of promise in his games with us in the second half of the 21/22 season and went on to have successful loans at Anderlecht and PSV. Can’t help feeling if he is going to get a chance with Wolves it’s now or never.
Agree with both above. Selling him now after what we have invested seems pretty pointless. Especially given our options in the position.
Does seem like the Cresswell deal will go ahead this week and maybe for as little as £2.5m when West Ham originally said they wanted £5m
Middlesbrough and Luton standing by in case that means we are prepared to sell Giles
Funny wulfrunnut, how I suggested the same thing about Fabio a while back, as I thought that by giving him at least until the January window, we could see if he was worth keeping.
Got slated by my usual critics though.
I'm willing to asked Wulfrunnut the same question I asked Sunny. I'm sure I'll get a much less argumentative answer.
What if Fabio scores 4 goals by January? Our top scorers last season both scored 6 all season. Expecting Fabio to be on 5 or 6 by January might not be realistic depending on what we create.
It also takes some players a while to settle in a new system. Why only give a young player until January? Surely we should be giving him longer if we are actually interested in how he develops.
The danger of giving him til January is that if he doesn't feature and we have rarely played him he is probably going to have lost 5-7 million more than his valuation today.
IF Julen isn't fussed by him now would be the right time to sell I guess.
I do wonder what Fabios thoughts are? Seems to me that with us having a gaping hole in attack he could have opted to come straight back from international duty and got minutes. As it was Jimenez has been starting the 'first team' portions of games.
Chiquinho and Hoever gone to Stoke for the season.
Rumours of an 18 million bid for Retegui the Argentine/Italian striker currently at Tigres. Genoa rumoured to be rivalling us..

I like the look of him to be honest...knows where the net is
We have a clause in the loan deals of Chiquinho and Hoever meaning we have the option of recalling them in January
In answer to you Tam, I wasn't particularly saying give him until Xmas, I was saying give him 'at least' until Xmas.
And yes, Cinci, I appreciate if we keep him and he doesn't produce the goods he may well lose sell-on value. But we could buy a replacement for, say, the £5-7m you mentioned who might also fail to produce the goods. The difference, which is not a financial one but rather a practical one, is that we already have Fabio, we don't have to go out and buy him.
At the end of the day, if we keep him for a season and he scores, say 7 goals, then we have maybe lost £7m, but we have gained 7 goals.
Who'd be a manager?
And 7 goals would have made him close to being our top scorer last season
Close? Think it would have made him THE top scorer wouldn't it?
Apparently Tony Roberts has left
