According to Wikipedia.
"Russian language dominates in informal communication in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.[32][33] It is also used by a sizeable linguistic minority (4-5% of the total population) in Central and Western Ukraine.[34] 83% of Ukrainians responding to a 2008 Gallup poll preferred to use Russian instead of Ukrainian to take the survey.[35]"

seen some dumb arguments but this is right up there
Vitali Klitschko the major of Kiev can barely speak Ukrainian himself
When he speaks it on TV (Only since the war) it is supposedly very bad
Pekerhead, do you get paid in robles for this stellar work?
The Ukrainian language is a psy-op by the Biden regime and the WEF to distract us from United's struggles in the transfer window

This was your original claim:
"most people in Kiev are native Russian speakers, such as Zelensky"
The very same link you posted here disproves your claim.
And by the way, the language in which people chose to take a poll has zero statistical value as regards their native language. Amongst many other factors, the intelligibility of the text or of the interviewers could easily influence the choice of language in which the poll was taken.
I asked a Russian guy on the European cultural forum I use if Kiev is mainly a Russian speaking city, he said this
It was literally a Russian island in the Central Ukrainian ocean, Ukrainization started in 1920s, now it's 50/50, but by mentality it's already a Ukrainian village. Before revolution Kiev was a centre of Russian intellectual nationalism, with hardcore Russian spirit, just like Zhytomir. Now it's not so, the remains of conscious Russians mostly fled it after 2014, others like Oles' Buzina were murdered by neonazi groups.
My God, we should force Putin to read this argument, he’ll surrender immediately.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oles_Buzina
In addition, this is the article referenced for that 82% figure. No indication whatsoever that it applies to Kyiv, and if you actually bothered to read it, you'd see it's also very obviously Russian propaganda:

While you're at it, tell me how all the Russification policies post-1920s are made up too, or how they actually didn't attempt to artificially and forcibly impose Russian in Ukraine.
The Russian guy on that forum is part Ukrainian and actually lived in Eastern Ukraine until around 2014.
His opinion on this is more accurate for obvious reasons 👍

I asked the Russian guy if Klitschko could speak Ukrainian properly.
Below is the answer
Most of them speak awful Ukrainian and never did it before the period them gaining some positions after 2014. Actually, popular Ukrainian language is so poorly systematical that you can speak it the way you like and people would see it as some kind of a variant of the norm. You can move 10 km from one village to another and the linguistic anarchy will be clearly seen, but the most funny it may spread even to official statements and governmental documents
no idea why this troll isn't banned from this site, a truly disgusting poster
Ask the Russian guy if Ukraine should be an independent sovereign nation, and which of the parts occupied by Russia during the past decade should be returned to Ukraine.
Ask him what happened after Stalin banned Ukrainization policies, whether during the Soviet era there were ever any efforts to Russify Ukraine and other Soviet republics, and what impact -if any- resettlement policies had on the ethnic composition of the different Soviet Republics.
Thank you.
