We've still got Danilo to come in, Cifuentes too possibly, so could still be big changes made both up top and to add a bit more of a defensive edge to our midfield

Cifuentes is a box to box/attacking mid rather than a defensive mid. Think his energy will help defensively, but ot someone that’ll protect the centre backs or full backs

By all accounts Cantwell tried to top himself tonight

These things will never be an indicator of how a league campaign will unfold but from a couple of bears I know the concern is more about a complete lack of shape or formation. They get the shuffling around of players but that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be some kind of strategy.

The first game between us at Ibrox looms large.

Yup their forums can be summarised as

- we've bought loads of gus in positions we were already strong in trying to copy Angie ball
- our defence is scheite
- Lundstram and Jack are scheite
- our forwards are scheite
- our tactics are scheite and the same as last years'
- we're no winning ra league or getting CL

I wouldn't say there's any sign of us trying to copy Ange ball. We're still playing the same tactic we were playing in the championship. It's like someone watched Spain at their prime, heard the criticism about them being boring to watch, thought "hey it's successful though", then copied the bit where they shuffled the ball about endlessly but not the bit with David Villa.

we have a pretty stinking start with pittodrie and ibrox.

as ever i expect old firm games = 3 points for the home team, so won't lose any sleep over losing there.

The first few games under Ange were like that though - no obvious style or shape then it started to emerge.

The Ange thing is in relation to the concentration of forwards being signed, not tactics.

I have close relly's that rented their place in Manhattan to David Villa when he played there. Said he was the nicest person imaginable.

I don't think we've had a manager who knows how to play attacking (or defensive) football since we got back into the top flight. We have been all midfield since Warburton came in. Dare I say it, we need an Ange who'll come in and rip it all up.

yup, my mates was the same last night.

reminded him Matondo looked liked Vinicius Jnr 2.0 in last seasons pre season.

Can remember the pre season before as well where we beat Real Madrid and Celtic got thrashed by West Ham in the same weekend. Made no difference to how the season unfolded unless the likes of Olympiacos and Newcastle join the Scottish league and become teams we have to beat to win trophies.

read nothing into them, no idea what training has went on that day or the day before. heavy legs, no real competition. watch them purely for something to do during the break.

I think all I will say is it reaffirms Rangers still have a bit of dead wood there who they need to move on.

Pre season or not we started last night with the same back 4 who finished last season and cost us on so many occasions. Still need to resolve some of those issues, we have brought a lot of players in but there needs to be movement out the way still.

yup and I dont need pre season to know that Barisic is prob mentally the weakest player Iv ever seen at Rangers. He has tons of ability at his feet and fecking zero in his head. $hites it from attackers, just backs of never pro active when defending always trying to react. On the ball he is a nervous wreck now also, he has it in him to pick the pass, his delivery is amazing. Does my nut in how he just progresses 10 yards, looks up $hites it from committing to a pass and turns back.

Missed the game last night but I think it's obvious we still need to be shifting a few on and at minimum bringing in Cifuentes, Danilo and a CB.

After that surely it relies on selling before bringing anyone in but nobody can complain Beale has not been backed this summer.

Think Beale has actually said a few times he's very lucky to have the budget he has vs everyone else so don't think he can have any complaints.

Results in pre season friendlies mean nothing. They’re a means to an end. Read a few rangers fans being worried about certain players, and it seems it’s mainly the ones that have been there for a while-Barisic, Lundstrum, etc.

I have seen Cantwell’s dive and Lundstrum’s lunge though. In a pre season friendly as well.
